The Civil Structural Designer II supplements the “system” design drawings, calculations and specifications developed by the engineering group through the preparation of physical drawings. Incorporates knowledge of materials, construction methods, applicable Codes and Standards and 2D and 3D Microstation CADD and other applicable computer applications.
Prepares design drawings including concept sketches and layouts based on organization standards.
Prepares and issues computer aided design (CAD) drafting drawings for installation, fabrication, and testing.
Works with designers in other disciplines to coordinate designs.
Performs field walk downs to locate existing systems and equipment, verify as-built conditions, and determine best approach for modifications.
Reviews and checks design drawings for discrepancies and for compatibility with engineered equipment and to provide higher level designers with comments.
Participates in resolving field problems identified on Nonconformance Reports, Requests for Engineering Assistance (REAs), and Design Change Requests by modifying existing design within procedural guidelines and design requirements.
May prepare construction installation specifications and details.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and six or more months previous internship(s) or work experience relevant to the position

An Associate’s degree and 2+ years related work experience
OR
A high school diploma and 4+ years combination of education and/or related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, industry and regulatory requirements, design criteria, and applicable codes.
Familiarity with new technology and industry standards.
