Job Description

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking Control Room Managers (Tank Farms, 2 positions) to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS). 

The Tank Farm Control Room Manager is responsible for managing safe and efficient operations of the Tank Farm control room(s).  Under broad direction from the Shift Operations Manager, assumes command and control responsibilities for control room operators and other staff who are monitoring evaporators, tanks, waste transfers, processes and radiological processing areas.  Acts as back-up to Shift Operations Manager during absences.

Responsible for encouraging and providing education on a nuclear safety culture where all workers understand and are comfortable in raising safety concerns, issues or time outs
Manages control room operations personnel on a given shift to ensure work is performed efficiently and in accordance with policies and procedures
Ensures appropriate Abnormal Operating Procedures and Emergency Operation Procedures are entered and command and control Emergency Response (ERO) functions are met
Interfaces with DWPF, Saltstone, H-Canyon and Effluent Treatment Project (ETP) facilities to support waste transfer evolutions, outages or general troubleshooting.  Ensure all transfer briefings are performed in accordance with the administrative procedure
Implements work window schedule activities.  Ensures Limiting Conditions of Operation are entered, and action is taken as well as ensures appropriate lockouts are installed to support planned activities
Develops plans and path forward actions to address emergent shift needs as a result of failed equipment or changing conditions
Reviews CRO rounds, monitors trends and directs corrective actions when necessary.  Ensures all status control logs and status boards are properly maintained
Ensures surveillance requirements are scheduled, completed and tracked
Reacts quickly and calmly to adverse situations and preserves incident/event sites until investigation and fact finding is complete
Ensures personnel are effectively trained and Automatic Qualification Matrix watch bills are manned appropriately to meet requirements.  Ensures A/B minimum staffing requirements for operations are met
Fosters strong and disciplined Conduct of Operations (CONOPS) by addressing Human Performance issues and maintaining the highest standards in communications, procedure compliance, peer check, real-time status control and configuration management
Performs performance and other assessments as required
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline and 5+ years experience in a relevant engineering, operations or maintenance function; or
Associates of Science or Associates of Applied Science degree or non-technical Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years experience in a relevant engineering, operations or maintenance function; or
High School Diploma or GED with 8+ years experience in a relevant engineering, operations or maintenance function
3+ years Nuclear Experience

Additional Information:

Current qualification as a Control Room Operator, First Line Manager or Shift Technical Engineer within the hiring facility will be credited with one additional year of experience
Deviations to Education and Experience Requirements must follow requirements of DOE Order 426.2.
Facility qualification process including extensive classroom, formal on-the-job training, and oral board examination conducted by facility management must be completed within one year.

Savannah River Remediation LLC, a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract.
