MetLife Investment Management (MIM) is searching for a Performance Analyst/Associate to join the Performance and Attribution team in Whippany. This position will contribute to effective portfolio benchmarking and performance attribution analysis. Promote data and information availability, accessibility, and accuracy for all MIM Fund and Managed Accounts for Real Estate Equity and Mortgage Loan. The candidate will support development of tools, reports and actionable information and insights for effective portfolio performance interpretation and management. The Performance and Attribution team is part of MetLife’s Operations department.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in reviewing performance results and benchmark returns for the firm’s real estate products and strategies in accordance with various standards including, but not limited to, the NCREIF PREA Reporting Standards, GIPS® and SEC requirements.
Review and approve the performance data feeds into REIDR from outside administrator.
Review MIM product data submission to NCREIF and MSCI.
Assist in the creation and preparation of detailed attribution analysis for MIM and GA.
Maintain and improve performance reporting templates.
Help document and maintain procedures regarding the performance reporting process.
Research root causes of issues, propose solutions, and drive their resolution in a timely manner.
Troubleshoot and correct inaccurate data in a timely manner.
Develop and implement controls around data input and production output.
Continually work to improve existing processes to gain efficiency, such as identifying automation opportunities.
Participate in Group initiatives and projects.
Liaise with colleagues in Investment Management, Legal/Compliance, Marketing, and Operations departments to ensure that accurate and appropriate performance information is presented.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
0 to 3 years’ experience in working in investment management operations preferred.
Ability to liaise with and communicate effectively with all employee experience levels throughout the organization.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Excel.
Ability to review all attribution reports for reasonability. Become comfortable digging into real estate returns and researching large outliers to explain performance drivers.
Basic understanding of GIPS Performance Presentation Standards.
Strong analytical and quantitative reasoning skills.
Basic knowledge of accounting principles and concepts.
Preferred:
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Real Estate, or related field.
Working knowledge of real estate performance measurement/reporting a plus.
