About the job
The Capital Project Manager (CPM) will lead a team of engineering professionals in providing the safe and successful delivery of engineering projects and services at Alcoa Warrick Operations (Power Plant and Smelter). This position is accountable for capital projects delivery and includes Capital Budget planning, project Front End Loading (FEL) development, capital expenditure approvals, project planning and execution, project contracting strategies, project contractor safety management, project implementation, dry commissioning and project closure.
The successful performance of this role will ensure appropriate control of Warrick’s capital funding as well as timely and cost effective achievement of the location capital program in meeting the required business objectives.
Responsibilities:
Deliver all agreed location capital/major expense projects and engineering services as per agreed budgets and schedules. Collaborate with key customer groups to develop budgets and project priorities and manage the delivery of projects at Warrick Operations.
Ensures the efficient and timely FEL requirements for all projects are met.
Lead the development and implementation of a total safety culture for Project Delivery and role model desired safety behaviors. Ensure that all project activities and results are completed in accordance with Alcoa’s safety philosophy, values and objectives.
Ensuring compliance with Alcoa authorization procedures and Audit compliance with the project delivery process.
Ensures an annual capital plan is developed and maintains a strategic plan for the location’s capital needs over the longer term.
Ensure project delivery processes are consistently applied at the location and work with Regional and Global capital teams to ensure a consistent and reliable approach is taken for project development and delivery.
Ensures an adequate level of, and appropriately skilled, resources are applied to meet the locations capital plan and engineering service requirements.
Ensure strong and sustainable customer relationships with the Location Manager, Production Manager, Engineering & Reliability Manager, Technical Managers and other key customer representatives.
Ensure timely reporting of Capital project progress, and forecast to Location Management. Ensures review sessions occur between the Project Managers /Project Team Leaders (PTL) and customer groups at agreed intervals
Facilitates location capital management review of Engineering contractor’s performance.

Proven track record of leading sophisticated and/or high-dollar value projects
Project Management experience within an industrial environment
