Summary:

Working under the direction of the Corporate Vice President of the Risk Oversight & Solutions Management team, the Service Senior Risk Management Associate will be responsible for working closely with our business partners within New York Life's Service Organization to provide guidance on newly implemented processes with a focus on regulatory and compliance requirements, risk evaluation and controls implementation. As the Service organization evolves in offering new services, platforms, and solutions for our customers, it is critical that we have strong processes in place to enable the organization to provide expert guidance and trusted solutions to our customers and agents. The Service Senior Risk Management Associate will be responsible for anticipating business needs and proactively identifying opportunities to improve and strengthen the control environment.

The Service Senior Risk Management Associate will develop and utilize a holistic understanding of the Service process environment to make informed recommendations across New York Life’s Service Centers and General Offices.  In addition, the Service Senior Risk Management Associate will be assigned to specific business initiatives occurring across the organization to evaluate and facilitate business decision-making around risk, solutions to evolving business needs, enhance processes for NYL's customers, Agents, and employees and partner with teams across the Service Organization to evaluate risk to design impactful solutions to mitigate risk and enhance the control infrastructure.                                                                                                                            

Key Responsibilities:

Gain understanding of Service processes at both a strategic and a detailed level.
Collaborate with Service Operation’s key stakeholders to optimize strategies to develop a stronger control environment.     
Create a framework/structure to help identify existing or emerging areas of exposure.           
Foster a positive working relationship with key stakeholders at all levels to gather information and evaluation decisions that may potentially have cross-functional impact. 
Advise senior management and appropriate stakeholders on the status of their control environment related to risk identification and control weaknesses.
Ability to have the difficult conversations and influence change
Partner with Service business partners to drive improvement opportunities to mitigate and ensure significant risk events are addressed.
Work closely with regulatory and compliance teams to stay abreast of changes to the regulatory environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required.

5+ years of experience in audit, risk advisory or management, control functions required; some form of operational service/risk experience is a plus.
Working knowledge of Six Sigma tools is a plus
Results-oriented focus on delivering value to the business.
Strong written communication and interpersonal skills.
Self-Starter with ability to work autonomously but also on a team to gather inputs. and drive initiatives cross-functionally.
Demonstrated ability to operate at a strategic level.
Comfort and confidence in interaction with all levels of management.
Ability to solve problems, multi-task and manage changing priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
