SRF is seeking a motivated, action-oriented communicator to join our public engagement team in Minneapolis.  Our growing Public Engagement Team works closely with our Planning, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, and other functional groups at SRF to lead outreach efforts for infrastructure projects across the Midwest.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the client, and SRF project team to create and execute engagement plans that are tailored to the project, stakeholders, and community.
Draft plain language content and develop visually appealing graphics and project materials – including digital and print.
Make recommendations and advise the client and project team regarding all outreach and materials to ensure meaningful and effective engagement.
Apply an equity lens for all engagement and communication strategies, tools, and materials.
Create engagement event materials and promotional strategies including press releases, social media content, in the field advertisements, presentation materials, and project materials.
Collect, analyze, and summarize input so the public can understand how their input is used and informs the project.
Create and facilitate in-person and digital engagement events and tools that provide project information and gather input.
Encourage clients and project team to do more than “check the box” for outreach and engagement by providing innovative and tailored strategies and solutions.
Travel and overnight stays throughout the region may be required for project work.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of public engagement principles and practices
Passion and desire to create inclusive and meaningful community engagement
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Public Relations, Marketing, Planning or closely related field
IAP2 certification a plus
2 years of public engagement and/or community communications-related experience is a plus.
Passion for equity, sustainability, and community
Strong written, verbal, and graphic communication skills
Collaborative and enthusiastic attitude
Good analytical and critical thinking skills
Good organizational skills with attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
