As a Business Systems Design Specialist - HR you will design and implement computer-based enterprise business solutions for Valero's human resource management functions as part of the Information Services (IS) Human Resources team. Work in close collaboration with team members, end users, and other IS departments to meet the company's goals, with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

Design and implement projects and enhancements as a lead or individual contributor with opportunity to participate in project management activities.
Participate in the full lifecycle of software development, including defining system scope, gathering requirements, documenting design & functional specifications, research and fact-finding, configuration, testing, reporting, cutover, IS and business user coordination.
Maintain effective work relationships with personnel at all levels within IS and across the organization. 
Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of multiple business processes, associated applications, and system to system integrations.
Help coordinate the adoption of new business procedures resulting from system/application changes.
Perform detailed analysis in order to recommend practical and efficient solutions that meet the needs of the business.
Understands and applies the various IT methodologies to include project management, development, service management and system architecture.
May be required to work off-hours and on weekends for projects and/or support.
Some travel may be required.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent required.
5 years of experience in HCM system configuration required.

Preferred Requirements:

Configuration experience in SAP HCM, Taleo, and LMS systems.
Experience in downstream oil and gas industry.
Experience in project management.
