Primary Purpose of the Position
Executes training of plant floor personnel using classroom and on-the-job training for the operation and maintenance of production equipment, job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe and effective performance of the work assignment.
Essential Responsible Areas:
Leads and assists in developing training program components and/or methods of training, to include:
Assessment and documentation of employees in procedural competencies
Revises instructional material documents based on current requirements/practices
Initiates, reviews, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility.
Supports components of new employee onboarding, championing Ball Corporation’s company culture and Drive For Ten values.
Administers training records and tracks training progress as prescribed by the plant training program guidelines, and reports progress regularly to individual trainees, supervisors and other stakeholders.
Evaluates employee proficiency using the skills matrix.
Coordinates and schedules training with plant training resources, using Microsoft Office tools.
Trains to and complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
Accesses, inputs, and exports information from plant computer systems, and the learning management system (LMS).
Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the division, the group, and the company. Includes ability to handle stress and to interact with others so as to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment and minimize personal conflicts.
Required to work assigned schedule as determined by plant location which may be 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, or 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights, Monday through Sunday, working hours may vary as specified by management. Incumbent must be able to work overtime on a regular basis and/or be on call as directed by management.
Champions continuous improvement of plant technical training effectiveness.
Position Requirement & Competencies:
High School Diploma or education equivalent required.
Job-related experience for 4 years minimum in high-speed manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated ability to effectively train plant floor employees on safe and effective operations of plant production equipment and processes, utilizing adult learning techniques and constructively delivers feedback on training progress.
Must be able to prioritize multiple projects, perform complex tasks, organize and follow through consistently and work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Proficient computer skills to include but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and other company specific systems (BPLM, HMI’s, Infinity and JD Edwards)
Strong written and oral communication, facilitation and presentation skills (communicate at all levels of the organization)
Excellent customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to apply independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard can and end making techniques, procedures, and criteria.

Advanced knowledge of the following areas: nomenclature, maintenance and troubleshooting of all assigned equipment and products, and plant quality standards.
Understands and responds effectively to EC directions during emergencies by being familiar with emergency procedures, equipment, and systems, as necessary. Implements contingency plan to the level required by the position.
Understands, completes, and maintains environmental documentation for which the individual is trained, or as directed by the EC, EFP, or EM (i.e., inspections, labelling, record keeping, maintenance of equipment, etc.). Reports to the EC, EFP, or EM on the status of assigned responsibilities.
Complies with environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and wastes.
Supports and follows the guidelines of the food safety system.
Performs duties as required to insure compliance with the plant's quality standards.
Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Ball Corporation manuals.
