Job Description

Leads the nightly activities of the Data Center’s computer operations. This is a 3rd shift position. Provide monitoring, reporting and support to all IT Computer Technical staff. Provide first level support to mainframe programmers and technical staff. Monitor, reporting and first level support on all environmental equipment in the Data Center.
Leads the Computer Operators in the operation of the computer systems. Works with all levels of Computer Operators, Service Desk Analysts, 2nd level support groups, management, and end-users.

Essential Functions

Lead the operation and monitoring of all computer system platforms: mainframe computer, midrange computers and server systems.
Perform system backups and tape handling on Power systems.
Identify equipment problems, finds solutions, initiates, and takes corrective action.
Organize and keep required logs and system records according to departmental procedures.

Qualifications

Associate Degree in a computer-related field preferred with systems certifications a plus.
5+ years’ experience as a computer operator in a large data center environment with multiple computer systems.
Ability to lead others and assist in developing new methods.
Detail-oriented team player with the ability to multitask.
Strong customer service, analytical and problem resolution skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate well with all levels of the organization.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule including weekends, holidays.
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
Proficient in mainframe operator commands.
Proficient in the use of ISPF/SDSF and the ESP job scheduling system used on a mainframe.
Excellent working knowledge of computer hardware and data center environmental equipment.
Ability to assist in network cabling and server installation.
