Provides system support in a PC/WAN computer platform environment. Assists with the installation and maintenance of system and vendor software packages, including operating system software. Troubleshoots and resolves network problems. Participates as a team member in project work and testing new products, and will respond to a high volume of user problems.
Responsibilities
Provides administration and maintenance of the current local and wide area networks. Assists with the design and implementation of new networks. Installs Novell Netware and/or Windows NT operating system software and appropriate hardware as necessary. Works independently and makes appropriate decisions using sound judgement.
Performs continuous network monitoring and problem resolution in an efficient manner.
Assists in the general administration of the network, through proficient use of Novell and Windows NT system administration utilities. Provides first line support for Standards and Security personnel using NetWare utilities.
Resolves user problems (at local and remote sites) reported through central help desk personnel quickly and efficiently. Supports a broad base of user applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, etc. and supports specialized banking applications.
Researches the feasibility of new hardware and software and implements as needed.
Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree (BA, BS, etc.) in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field required with One (1) year of related experience. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
