The Biologics Discovery group within the Therapeutics Discovery (TD) organization of Janssen R&D is engaged in the discovery and optimization of novel antibody and antibody based molecular entities in partnership with the all therapeutic areas of Janssen. Key Responsibilities:

Design and clone antibody and protein based molecular entities
Support the broad lead engineering efforts in the modality agnostic Therapeutics Discovery organization
Perform and expand established assays as well as develop and optimize new assays. Responsibilities will include cloning, plasmid scale-up, plasmid QC, cell culture, reagent preparation, E. coli and mammalian cell culture, ELISA and other binding assays and flow cytometry.
Be able to independently process data, interpret results, update the database, and present results to applicable functional groups.
Manage laboratory operations including such as reviewing of experimental protocols and equipment manuals, writing protocols, ordering of reagents and supplies, inventory management, instrument QC, scheduling of equipment maintenance, safety inspections
Train new hires and mentor other scientists, contractors, and co-op students

Qualifications

MSc or PhD or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, structural biology or related field is required
At least 4 years of relevant laboratory experience is preferred
In-depth understanding and experience of antibody engineering, managing incoming requests, conducting design and registering plasmids in a central database system is preferred
Experience in molecular biology techniques including bi-, multi-specifics, scFv, and/or chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) construct design and cloning is preferred
Demonstrated experience working in a cross-functional organization
Maintain accurate inventory of generated plasmids, lab notebooks, and other records and writing of technical reports, summaries, protocols, and manuscripts are preferred
Strong written and oral communication skills are required
Experience with protein production using transient transfection/stable cell line generation using CHO and HEK-293 is preferred
Proficient knowledge of cellular/molecular biology, common biology laboratory assays such as ELISA, Luminex, and biolayer interferometry (Octet) and other assays are preferred
