About You
As the Senior Learning Operational Excellence Director for Dow, you will champion Work Process Excellence (including Operational Reliability), Learning, Expertise Growth, Change Management Application, and Leadership skill capability within the Operations Functions. You will be responsible for the development and execution of the Operations learning strategy, in alignment with the corporate strategy, to support a highly reliable and sustainable workforce.
Within the Operational Excellence space, you will become the champion and owner of the implementation of Operational Reliability which includes adoption of Highly Reliable Operations (HRO) principles and driving improved reliability within the function through a focus on reducing unplanned events with a management system / operating discipline failure.
As the Senior Director, you will lead a team and provide guidance across the function to maintain learning and work process while also driving performance improvements through understanding the current needs/opportunities of our Site and Plant leaders within the management system / learning application space. This role partners with other functions (HR, EHS&S, ISC, R&D, etc.) in support of improved learning utilization and capabilities for the company.
Responsibilities / Duties of this role include:
As a leader, fosters a work environment with a high level of integrity and strong customer and safety focus that embraces inclusion and diversity, innovation and sustainability, continuous improvement, and empowerment.
Oversight of ODMS Section 5 and Section 8 (Make Product Work Process) to drive effective utilization, adoption, and continuous improvement of the management system. Within Section 8, oversight of Operational Reliability and reduction of Management System/OD failures within unplanned events as aligned to and with the Reliability Council. Champions work process alignment and collaboration cross functionally in accordance with Dow's End to End processes/Steering Team.
Champion for the support and application of change management and culture analysis methodologies to drive improved adoption / performance with sites and plants. Support of a team that will provide applied facilitation, continuous improvement, and change management techniques for various Operations Leadership Team sponsored initiatives.
Leads the development of the global operations learning strategy.
Establishes a learning network within the organization to implement the learning strategy, and associated plans which will meet global, business and functional learning objectives.
Initiates the development of learning resources to support the organization’s learning strategy utilizing Instructional System Design.
Establishes and ensure ongoing resource support for a learning organizational structure to implement the learning strategy consistent with the principles of a highly reliable and sustainable organization.
Oversees development and implementation of role curricula consistent with the organization’s learning strategy. Coaches local curriculum owners on curriculum design, implementation and maintenance. Ensures sufficient pool of instructors to deliver the demand within area of responsibility and appropriate level of instructor recognition takes place.
Represents site, region, business or function in appropriate global or regional learning network.
Supports global learning improvement and other projects, as applicable. Develops and drives learning improvement opportunities and communicates to the global, business or functional learning network as appropriate.
Works closely with other business, functional, learning team members and other key stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective implementation of learning initiatives. Serves as the organization’s learning representative to appropriate internal and external teams or networks
Owns and ensure support execution of Operations talent development programs.

Required Qualifications:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking OR Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class ranking.
A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience (i.e. production leader, improvement leader, etc.)
Prior people leadership experience is preferred
Must be willing and able to travel domestically and/or internationally approximately 25-50% annually and meet all applicable requirements related to business travel (e.g., as to immigration and visa rules, public-health mandates, airline rules, etc.) into and out of (and physical presence in) various countries world wide.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Additional Notes:
The preferred location for this role is Freeport (TX) or Midland (MI). Other locations within the U.S. will be considered.
This position does not offer relocation assistance.
