The Senior Financial Accounting Analyst will service as a Strategic Business Partner, bringing timely and insightful decisions to all strategic and tactical matters as they related to SEC requirements, accounting, audit/SOX compliance and financial analyses, leveraging financial systems and processes that increase clarity, improve efficiency, shorten decision cycle times, and reinforce financial integrity and accountability.

- Monitor and report FASB activities to identify changes in existing guidance that will have an impact on GM’s financial statements.

- Participate in FASB outreach, industry groups, and Big 4 roundtable activities; facilitate process for correspondence with the FASB through Comment Letter submission.

- Research, interpret, and document all new accounting standards and how each applies to GM as well as comply with external 10-Q/10-K reporting requirements.

- Participate in M&A and other business development activities and identifying accounting issues with a global viewpoint and a focus on risk.

- Develop or coordinate transaction impact assessments from a financial documents standpoint.

 

Additional Description

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business

MBA or Masters of Science degree in business field (preferred)

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) (preferred)

Public accounting firm experience (preferred)

Knowledge and experience working with global ledger systems and business processes

Demonstrated ability to work and lead with minimal supervision on unstructured assignments and identify process improvements

Identify, interpret and analyze potential accounting risks and issues

Understanding of and ability to apply accounting and financial reporting standards (GAAP)

Willing to take on additional responsibilities, attend training, and learn new technical skills

Ability to collaborate with business, IT, and data analysis resources to capture, prioritize and document solution requirements, and drive measurable results
