MetLife is seeking a highly motivated Legal Administrative Associate to join the in-house Legal Services Team of administrative associates and paralegals to support the Legal Affairs department and work in different areas of the department to support the business needs.
This position requires excellent judgement, attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize workload in a complex, fast-moving environment. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. This role reports to the service team manager, requires a high degree of collaboration with peers, stakeholders and with the Legal services team members across Legal Affairs.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing administrative assistance to attorneys and the services team members as needed.
Demonstrate judgement in prioritizing meetings and managing calendar effectively by gaining knowledge of business priorities.
Proactively find solutions to issues with an ownership mindset.
Work with various systems, including matter management and Ebilling, expense reports, and other technology platforms as needed.
Interface with executive assistants of senior leaders, at all levels of the organization, both within and outside of the company.
Must manage own performance independently and effectively with excellent time management skills.
Superior prioritization, organization, proofreading, and office administration skills.
High degree of initiative and the capacity to anticipate the needs of professionals.
Providing back-up assistance in the absence of other colleagues.
Highly proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) SharePoint and One drive; ability to troubleshoot basic software issues and learn new systems quickly.
Arrange business travel - including airlines, hotels, and transportation - and take initiative to collect travel receipts and submit expense reimbursement requests promptly.
Maintain documents and records in accordance with administrative and record retention policies.
Assisting with department projects as needed, using judgment to make decisions, within the scope of responsibilities and other work-related duties as assigned.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
Associate degree or 2-3 years administrative experience.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe) SharePoint
Excellent organization, time management, and multi-tasking skills required.
Ability to execute with urgency and agility.
Strong record of success collaborating with diverse personalities.
Positive, proactive, and able to adapt to changes in the work environment.
Candidate must be independent, self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and possess the ability to work under pressure, manage priorities, handle multiple tasks with frequent tight deadlines and work well in team environments.
