About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU]

This position is within the Construction & Design Services Organization, Transmission Programs Support, Transmission & Substation Equipment & Standards group. This group is primarily located in Akron, Ohio and is responsible for specifying, ordering and tracking the transmission and substation equipment to support the transmission capital improvement initiative as well as routine and emergent capital equipment replacements. This group also manages the substation engineering standards.

This position will work with a staff of engineers and specialists regarding Major Equipment procurement, from the initial equipment request through delivery. This position will assist in developing and maintaining an equipment forecasting tool, as well as the duties specified below. The employee will be expected to develop and issue reports regarding equipment procurement status. The employee will be expected to participate in technical training relating to Major Equipment and internal Substation and Transmission standards.

The reporting location for the position could be Akron, OH, Greensburg, PA, or Reading, PA.

Responsibilities Include:

Developing reports that identify the status of equipment requests through job site delivery.

Developing processes to support automatic tracking of equipment procurement, including the following:

Initial Equipment Requests
Delivery Date Requirement
Approval Drawing Tracking
Equipment Change Order tracking
Budget Tracking (Change Orders, Equipment Delays, Site Requirement Change)

Developing Management Reports for Equipment Orders based on analysis of equipment procurement data.
Supporting development of automatic processes that provide visibility to stakeholders of equipment procurement status and alerts for equipment delivery or cost changes.

Working closely with various shareholders of the transmission engineering groups and equipment engineers on order tracking.
Developing metrics reports, on equipment order approval status, using data analysis software, such as QlikView and Power BI.
Running master data queries: ensuring the integrity of the equipment groups master query and SAP for accuracy; making the necessary modifications as necessary.
Working with vendors on monthly order status reports.
Managing Equipment Group Equipment Order lists and update SharePoint site with daily updates.
Developing and issuing variance reports that indicate possible risks that indicate inconsistencies between mailbox tracker and equipment order lists.
Providing recommendations to optimize forecast analyses on future equipment orders.
Developing tools and guidelines for benchmarking Equipment order status.
Participating on daily department status calls.
Participating on monthly vendor equipment status calls.
Researching, reviewing and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of the existing equipment procurement process and recommend enhancements.
Leveraging Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Power BI, and QlikView to support monthly and ad-hoc reporting.
Providing assistance during emergencies and storm related activities.

Qualifications include: 

Two or four-year degree in Business, IT, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related discipline is preferred, along with a minimum 4 years relevant work experience is required.  In lieu of a degree, 7 years direct, relevant experience will be required.
Relevant experience includes data reporting, analysis, costing and recommendations, along with an in-depth understanding of the subject matter.
Strong analytical, decision making, planning, and problem-solving skills are necessary
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Power Bi)
Must possess superior written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of FE Utilities, Customer Service and IT organizational structure
Solid knowledge of computer and distribution technology systems: software and hardware
Strong understanding of process improvement and reengineering techniques is preferred
Ability to effectively present complex subject matter to all levels of management
Extensive knowledge of the FirstEnergy business unit's processes and key applications is preferred.
Questioning attitude to learn and produce results while working across FirstEnergy
Knowledge of Substation and Transmission equipment is preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with people at all levels across the FE organization as well as with manufacturers.
