Overview:
The Sr. Payroll Accountant will be the company's expert on all things related to Payroll Accounting. Review, evaluate and maintain payroll accounting processes and oversight of the adherence to policy and procedures as well as internal controls. Recommend, implement, and manage continuous improvement of payroll accounting processes. Ensure Payroll Accounting and Stock processing controls are operating efficiently and conform to all legal and regulatory accounting and tax requirements, including compliance with corporate policies, local statutory requirements and Sarbanes Oxley. Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, learn quickly and possess payroll accounting experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Required:
Prepare and/or oversee journal entries and reconciliation of payroll related GL accounts and quarterly tax audit (40%)
Lead payroll contact for internal audits, external audits and government audits. (7%)
Develop and maintain standard operating procedure documents on all Payroll accounting processes (2%)
Coordinate with Shared Services on the flow of Stock, RSU, and ESPP data into the Payroll processes, through the related GL accounts, and onto the year-end wage statements (3%)
Perform flux analyses and document meaningful explanations in support of the close processes (7%)
Proactively pursue business issues that impact the general ledger and evaluate the situation for acceptable solutions. Propose resolution to management and other affected areas/departments (15%)
Maintain payroll pay and deductions codes settings for taxes, earnings and deductions in payroll system (2%)
Remit payroll related accounts payable (401K, Deferred Comp, etc.) (3%)
Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports for management (7%)
Ad hoc projects (14%)

Qualifications:
Experience:
5 to 8 Years of relevant work experience.
Proficient understanding of payroll processes, controls, current federal & state regulations and regional regulatory payroll compliance
Education & Certifications:
Bachelor's Degree with Accounting or Finance Field of Study preferred.
Associate Degree with Accounting field of study required.
Strong JE preparation and GL reconciliation skills
