Job Description

Direct the daily operations of the designated patient care units/departments (obstetrics department). Responsible for managing, monitoring, and evaluating nursing/patient care systems and patient outcomes attributable to nursing/patient care practices.  The position is also responsible for resource management, policy and program development, fiscal management, and for establishing and maintaining effective communication within the hospital, the community, and in the professional environment. Facilitates leadership skills development and mentors direct report managers. Develops standards and ensures compliance with practices and regulatory requirements by all personnel in areas of responsibility.  Provide proper support, direction and development of employees and employed medical staff.  Serve as a liaison between the departmental staff, medical staff, and hospital administration.  Maintain standards of quality in accordance with accepted national standards, and hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Assume responsibility for the Patient Care Services division, when designated, in the absence of the Vice President, Patient Care Services.

Graduate from a school of nursing and Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related degree required, or higher. Master's Degree in nursing or related degree required, or higher.  Current licensure as an RN by the Kentucky Board of Nursing required.  Recent obstetrics experience required; labor and delivery experience preferred. Advanced Nursing or Management Specialty Certification preferred.  Competency in professional nursing practice including teaching, leadership and management skills required. Three to five years management experience in acute care setting required. Management experience with multiple departments preferred. Demonstrated Transformational Leadership required.
