Job Description

The Opportunity

UX Information Architects are at the core of Ally Financial products, laying the foundation for the experiences that facilitate interactions with millions of users daily.

At Ally, you get a startup feel, but experience the benefits of a company that’s worked out the kinks and is fulfilling its purpose. We’re always evolving and see that as a good thing. From owning our work to seeing its impact in the real world, our team is relentless in finding new ways technology can help make experiences better and help people. We are problem solvers, we value diverse thinking, we support one another, and we challenge ourselves to think bigger in the journey to deliver customer-obsessed tech solutions.

The Work Itself

Collaborate with visual design, usability, content strategy, engineering and business stakeholders to conceive best-in-class digital user experiences that align to Ally’s design principles, industry standards and emerging digital trends
Represent the UX practice—its ideals, standards, and methods—as an advocate, leading contributor, and subject matter expert to influence product enhancements that drive digital adoption and inspire customer loyalty
Interface regularly with leadership to share insights on user experience and build consensus on the most competitive product direction
Engage and lead colleagues in co-creation, knowledge sharing, constructive critique, and process improvement to elevate the practice of design at Ally
Faithfully represent, communicate, and carry out the direction of enterprise UX leadership to ensure design meets Ally standards, from end-to-end, across all customer journeys

The Skills You Bring

Passion for creating value for both internal and external Ally users, and enthusiasm for Agile processes that help develop these products
At least 3 years previous work experience in: UX Design, Customer Experience or Qualitative Research Innovation/ideation with a focus on user experience, understanding consumers/users, problem solving, organizing/conducting/analyzing quantitative or qualitative research, and recommending design-oriented solutions
Desire to work within a diverse group of people and passion for challenging the status quo
Ability to visualize information effectively and tailor presentations to the audience
Background in Communications, Graphic  or Web Design, Human Factors Engineering, Usability/Research, or Business Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human Computer Science, Professional Writing or other related disciplines

It’s not expected that any single candidate would fulfil all of these characteristics. For instance, we have wonderful team members who are really focused on their customers’ needs and building amazing user experiences, but didn’t work on banking products before joining Ally.
