Responsibilities

As a Sourcing Technologist for Circular Feedstocks within the Global Sourcing Team and an active member of the cross-functional Feedstock Supplier Activation Team (FSAT), you will be developing and executing elements within the unique and overarching Circular Feedstocks Sourcing Strategy.  The FSAT dashboard comprises technical and commercial funnels, and our charge is to accelerate the progress of feedstocks through these to meet our needs. This is an opportunity to shape the way Eastman does business in the sourcing of feedstocks for the Circular Economy, and you’ll be on the forefront of this work. 


This is a remote position and will report to Global Sourcing Director aligned with the Plastics (and Circularity) Division.  You will directly interact with Team Members within the Global Sourcing & Procurement Team, the Circular Feedstocks team within Corporate Technology and Innovation, as well as Team Members from Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Sustainability functions, to accomplish the goals of the Circular Economy investments.  There will also be a heavy interaction with Eastman Logistics, the Alternative Methods of Supply team, and of course, feedstock suppliers. There is no direct supervision of employees in this role. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Research, identify, validate and commercialize suppliers of PET-rich waste feedstock streams
Work across multiple cross-functional teams, influencing without authority
Obtain and analyze pricing bids to determine sourcing opportunities of circular feedstocks
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and other commercial aspects of vendor relationship
Identify and implement cost savings and avoidance opportunities without impacting service levels
Uphold internal and external policies, regulations and laws 
Lead option generation that includes commercial, specification and demand levers and choices of what we will do and what we will not do
Conduct Feedstock supplier management activities
Track the performance of spend to understand price and volume variances; make adjustments to approaches based on results.
Develop supplier relationship, where applicable, to drive continuous performance improvement (annual target development, quarterly progress, etc)
Develop year on year forecast of price impacts for category
Develop supplier engagement plans annually for major suppliers.
Conduct supplier development activities to identify additional potential suppliers. 
Negotiate contracts and amendments as necessary to deliver the category strategy and deliver initial and ongoing cost advantage.
Ensure pricing is managed per the contract and approve all price increase requests by suppliers. 

 

Qualifications

 

Required Education and Professional experience:
 

A minimum of 10 years commercial / industry experience is required. 
Previous exposure to purchasing, sourcing or commercial experience such as contract negotiations, market assessments and strategy frameworks is strongly preferred.

 

Required Skills and Capabilities:

 

Demonstrated Capability to learn new techniques and quickly applying them.
Experience working in cross-functional teams in challenging situations and build consensus.
Strong communication ability to convey information to individuals and groups in a variety of situations.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with Information Technology ERP Software (SAP) 

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel and Word
