About the role

In this dynamic and challenging role based in Woodland Hills, CA, you will have the opportunity to support a team of lawyers and other professionals who are responsible for providing legal advice and guidance to the Individual Retirement business of AIG Life and Retirement.  Core responsibilities include the development and maintenance of annuities and life insurance, including registered insurance products (variable annuity and variable life), researching and advising on administrative and contract issues originating in our Customer and Producer call centers  supporting other aspects of the operations of an insurance carrier including marketing, sales and customer servicing support, as well as engagement in the development and implementation of new laws and regulations.  This position reports to the Assistant General Counsel – Individual Retirement.

What you need to know:

You will be working on various aspects of legal support for the Individual Retirement business of AIG Life and Retirement.  Examples of the work in which you will be involved include:

Support issue resolution from clients in our Customer and Producer call centers.
Support federal/state legislation tracking impacting the Life and Retirement business and related tasks, and special projects support
Conduct legal research on a variety of topics in support of our Operations
Provide project management and organizational support
Draft, create and/or edit correspondence, reports, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets
Maintain processes relating to Operations issue resolution work and ensure adherence to the processes by the rest of the team
Other duties as assigned

What we’re looking for:

Bachelor’s Degree and Paralegal Certificate
8+ years of relevant industry and/or law firm experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel)
Ability to perform proficient legal research with sound knowledge of legal concepts and ability to analyze facts
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Proven problem-solving skills
Strong project management skills with an attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to balance thoughtful decision making with careful and timely execution
Strong capability of working in a team environment and providing team support
Highly detailed oriented with the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment with shifting deadlines and priorities
