The Role
Responsible for owning the Public Sector security product strategy and vision. Lead a team of Product Managers with the primary responsibilities of understanding the public sector market, defining the product strategy, developing and executing the product roadmap, and managing financial growth and profitability. Directs the development and lifecycle management of the existing portfolio of solutions supporting Public Sector such as MSS, MTIPS, TIC 3.0, Software Defined Perimeter, Managed Endpoint Detection & Response, and Zero Trust Network Access. Responsible for maximizing the competitiveness and financial performance of a product portfolio. Focused on the customer experience with an ability to understand and translate market opportunities and customer needs into product requirements and product value messaging. Expert in communicating our product capabilities to both internal and external audiences via written and verbal presentations. This role provides opportunity to make an immediate impact on both our short-term deliverables and long-term strategic goals. Requires leading both a direct team of product professionals as well as matrixed organizations responsible for the development and lifecycle management of a complex product ecosystem that includes IT systems, networks, and 3rd party vendors and partners.
The Main Responsibilities
Develops and articulates vision and market strategy for federal, state, and local government entities. Chart the vision of Managed Security Services in Public Sector, including new solutions that must be introduced as a result of TIC 3.0.
Serve as subject matter expert on federal spend and portfolio including competition, market dynamics, points of differentiation, value proposition, and quote to cash processes.
Analyze continually evolving federal spend data initiatives and ensure Lumen has offers to meet all requisite data standards.
Prepares and presents company and portfolio content at industry events, panels, and to industry Analysts and experts with the goal of perpetuating Lumen brand, capabilities, and differentiation
Engage with customers and field organizations to gather and prioritize security and compliance requirements (FISMA, FedRAMP, FIPS, Section 508, PCI, HIPAA, GDPR etc. ). Translate and define compliance and regulatory requirements to product requirements with clearly defined priorities.
Coordinate with the security product team to ensure new products and services being launched will be able to be supported by the Public Sector growth team.
Leads and manages a team of Product Mangers to high performance; hires and retains the right talent in the right roles; sets goals, delegates work, holds reports accountable; develops and empowers direct reports to make decisions and take action.
Responsible for portfolio financials for growth and profitability. Understand and actively manage all of the levers that impact financials including funnel, opex, netex, capex, credits, and pricing.
Prepares and delivers executive level presentations that include portfolio performance and portfolio development asks grounded in financial justification and business cases.
Leads a matrixed team (engineering, operations, product development, and 3rd party vendors) in the continued support of the growth and lifecycle management of the portfolio
Work closely with Marketing on key aspects of go-to-market planning including pricing, positioning, competitive analysis, sales enablement and sales training.
What We Look For in a Candidate
5-10+ years of direct supervisory experience
10-15+ years of product management experience
Firm understanding of the Public Sector space, including Federal and State and Local markets, contracting and compliance.
Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills; comfortable delivering product presentations to large audiences
Ability to work independently and as part of a team working collaboratively with highly distributed teams across different time zones
Business Acumen: Must have an intermediate understanding of company financial measures and financial modeling
Proactive and self-motivated: ability to drive execution of short and long term strategies to grow product portfolio
Negotiation skills and experience managing third-party vendor negotiations/relationships.
Problem Solving: Advanced analytical skills. Must be able to work through complex issues with a methodical approach. Must be able to understand and distill data into actionable items. Must have advanced data management ability.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure with tight deadlines.
Strong analytical skills with ability to distill broad concepts and business strategies into structured product management/marketing plans.
