Role Value Proposition:
The Lead Converged Infrastructure Engineer uses their industry experience and technical knowledge across a broad portfolio of Data Center technologies to ensure operational and project-based activities are planned, approved and performed on time with minimal application impact. This hands-on position requires strong collaboration skills to work with other infrastructure experts and software developers within the team as they drive toward project milestones. The ideal Engineer will have a broad understanding of the technologies within the Converged team’s portfolio; Virtualization, Networking, Automation, Security and enjoy learning new ones. The candidate will have the ability to identify, document, recommend and lead projects within the Converged team’s portfolio. Knowledge of Security methodologies and TCP/IP will be very advantageous for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Represent infrastructure changes accurately within the MetLife Change Management process
Deliver thoroughly planned and executed changes within the environment without application impact.
Develop to become a knowledgeable and trusted resource on all technology areas within the Converged Infrastructure portfolio.
Assist with tier III troubleshooting and ongoing management of the Data Center infrastructure for which the team is responsible.
Assist team members who develop automation tools by providing infrastructure technology guidance.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Network Security, Branch and Core Routing teams.
Continuously identify, review, and recommend potential opportunities for enterprise cost-savings, service quality improvement, and operational efficiency.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline
10+ years working with Data Center technologies
5+ years’ experience with at least 1 of the following Converged technology areas:
Virtualization, Network Security, Load Balancing, Cloud, Automation, x86 Compute
Thorough understanding of TCP/IP
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and written/oral communication skills
Preferred:
Experience using Python as a programming language
One or more Industry Certifications: VCP, CCIE/CCNP, CISSP, PCNSE, etc.
