Job Description

We are seeking a talented Tank Engineer to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy. This role will be located onsite in our Woodlands, TX location.

The Tank Engineer will perform project management and engineering support services related to all storage tanks within the Logistics system primarily located at petroleum pipeline stations and terminals.  Engineer will work to execute projects and technical assignments to ensure safety, reliability, and integrity.   The Engineer will also use his/her expertise to help mentor fellow engineers.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage project work related to storage tanks, including tank turnarounds (e.g., API 653 Inspection), upgrades/repairs to existing tanks and construction of new storage tanks
Manage and execute projects within budget, schedule, regulatory requirements, and industry accepted practices, as well as leading others as appropriate
Develop scope, project plan, cost estimate, AFE form, schedule, MOC (Management of Change) and other required documentation to facilitate project work
Produce written specifications/requirements, including development of API 653 inspection requirements and specifications for various aspects of tank work (e.g., tank cleaning, coatings, floor replacement or repairs, seal replacements, nozzle relocations, etc.)
Establish Company Standards (e.g., coatings, tank inspections, floor replacements, cathodic protection, and level gauging)
Support Operations with scheduling and procedural development, as well as procurement of necessary inspection resources
Coordinate with Operations to develop operations, maintenance, and start-up procedures, in managing construction through all phases including returning tanks to service
Perform project stewardship tasks, including regular updates to monthly cost forecast basis and project execution plan
Maintain up-to-date API 653 inspection schedule and organize/maintain records for each tank
Function as Subject Matter Expert, providing day-to-day support to Operations as tank issues arise, supporting ongoing regulatory compliance efforts (DOT/PHMSA), participating in company-wide tank best practices network, and staying abreast of new industry codes
Contribute to short- and long-range Department planning and budgeting
Communicate project progress and results in a concise and understandable manner
Support the Department’s safety, health, and environmental policies

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
5+ years of industry experience related to storage tank inspections, maintenance, and construction.
Familiar with types of storage facility equipment and their operation as well as ability to read and understand flow diagrams.
Knowledgeable of storage tank industry codes, e.g., API 650, API 653, API 652, and API 651.
Knowledgeable of other relevant industry regulations, including 48 CFR Part 195 and applicable standards from OSHA, ASME, SSPC and NACE.
API 653 certification and/or NACE coatings inspector certification preferred.
Solid project management skills with the ability to work well in a team environment to accomplish common goals.
Ability and willingness to travel as required (est. 50%) and be self-motivated.
