Over the next few years, CRST The Transportation Solution will be implementing significant enterprise wide system and software upgrades. In support of this project, and of future needs, we are expanding our personnel and adding new positions within our Information Technology team, located in Cedar Rapids, IA or Atlanta, GA. We are seeking new IT skills and resources in the areas of help desk technicians, project managers, business process analyst, application administration and software development. Role Summary: 

The Data Analyst works closely with operations and business analysts in gathering requirements, creating reports and dashboards as well as performing ad hoc data exploration as needed. This person will be responsible for creating reports from summary data with actionable items to track performance and support decision making that impact the business. The ideal candidate thinks outside of the box, is an independent thinker and has a strong background with SSRS, Power BI and Excel.

Role Responsibilities: 

Understanding your business stakeholder’s objectives, the metrics that are the most important to them, and how they measure their performance
Develop ad hoc reporting utilizing various tools such as SQL, Microsoft Office (Excel), Power BI, and similar tools
Act as the subject matter expert of business data, database structures and business rules
Utilize best practices in displaying large datasets visually and effectively
Meet with internal customers to gather required reporting and dashboard requirements
Find and understand the correct data sources for a given analysis
Create technical documentation for ad hoc reporting and data requests on an as-needed basis
Identify opportunities to automate processes, tracking issues, and document changes
Coordinate code reviews with data analysts to ensure quality of data 
Train business users on report usage and interpretation

Role Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in a related field or 3+ years of relevant experience in a report development, business analytics, business intelligence or comparable role required
Proven ability to help guide customers in refining data needs
Ability to facilitate information and requirements gathering sessions
Ability to write and troubleshoot new and existing SQL queries
Expertise with Microsoft business intelligence tools, techniques and technologies  – SSRS, PowerBI
Experience with SSAS a plus
Experience working with a star-schema data warehouse
Knowledge of AWS infrastructure and Data Lake technologies
Superior Excel Skills
Advanced experience working with SQL Server Management Studio
Working knowledge or ability to learn Python, SSIS and/or other ETL related environments
Work experience in transportation industry is a plus
