Job Description/Responsibilities

Rotating shifts to maintain a 24-hour/7 day a week operation, as well as overtime assignments are required. During the first 6+ months in the position, you will be thoroughly trained in all aspects of the Gas Dispatcher role. During this time period, you may be asked to travel for required training. This position requires you to obtain Arcos training.


Gas Dispatcher responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Short-cycle scheduling to make and meet customer commitments.
Coordinate activities with outside agencies such as 911, MISS DIG, other utilities, etc.
Prepare emergency distribution orders for distribution workers, utility and ASP work to customer service workers.
Assist in training of co-workers as well as support employees from other work groups.

 

Due to the training involved in getting a new employee fully functional in the Dispatcher role, upon accepting this position, you will be ineligible to apply for another internal job posting outside the Dispatch job family during the first thirty months.

 

Required Qualifications

Technical experience in SAP, CAD, OMS, GIS, Dispatching Software, etc. OR extensive business knowledge of the utility industry OR other applicable non-technical experience like Customer Service, Project Management etc.
High School Diploma Required

 

Preferred Qualifications

Associates Degree Preferred.
Microsoft Office experience.
Knowledge of the union working agreement.
An understanding of the basic natural gas fundamentals and the ability to analyze and interpret complex prints.
Knowledge of Service Suite and the ability to learn new software quickly.
Experience dispatching work to field resources.
The ability to read and interpret operation manuals.
Experience communicating via two-way radio.
Possess the ability to interact with customers in courteous manner.
