Job Description

Job Summary: --  The Assistant Controller reports to the controller and assists in the day-to-day functioning of the financial activities of the company including producing accurate financial records prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Job Responsibilities include:
• Learn all areas of the Accounting system in detail including A/P, A/R, P/R, Inventory, Job Costing, Service Management and General Ledger.
• G/L Account Reconciliations.
• Assisting in completion of Monthly Financial Statements.
• Work with Administrative Training Manager and back-office Department Heads to establish, implement, maintain and monitor internal processes and procedures to ensure processes and procedures are accurate and efficient.
• Ad hoc reporting.

Financial Statements:
• Coordinate the monthly input from the operating divisions to be entered into the computer system for month-end Financial Statements.
• Preparation and Entry of Monthly Journal Entries.
• Process Month-End WIP Adjustments.

General Ledger:
• Analyze Balance Sheet accounts and accruals, and make adjusting journal entries as required.
• Maintain Fixed Asset schedules for capitalization and depreciation information, including the reconciliation of acquisitions and disposals.
• Maintain Financial and Operating Leases, including the reconciliation of acquisitions and disposals.

Job Costing:
• Review of the Job Cost Reports and analysis of Billings / Unbilled status of Construction Contracts.
• Provide assistance to Project Managers, Division Managers and other accounting personnel in the analysis and interpretation of the Job Cost Reports.
• Process and Review Monthly Job Forecasts.

Banking and Finance:
• Reconciliation of Monthly Bank Statements for all Company Bank Accounts.
• Assist / Backup the A/P Manager for PCards.

Audit and Tax:
• Work with the Controller in the Preparation of Tax Schedules for Corporate Tax Department.
• Coordination and Preparation of Audit support documentation.
• Review and maintain accounting directive regarding Sales / Use Tax across the 7 states in which we currently operate in.
