Essential Job Functions:
Determines an appropriate pre-anesthesia examination has been made by a physician, relevant tests have been completed and a thorough assessment of the patient has been performed. Develops a plan of care based on assessment, interpretation, anticipated procedure and essential equipment. Coordinates with appropriate health care providers. Administers anesthetic agents and adjunctive therapeutics. Monitors physiological responses and takes corrective action to maintain or stabilize the patient's condition. Provides resuscitative care. Records pertinent information on the patient's records. Terminates anesthesia. Provides patients with post-anesthesia care.
EDUCATION
Required: Degree requirements as defined by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners (TSBNE) for clinical licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Required: All of the following: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the Council on Certification (or Recertification) of Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support). PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
MAY BE REQUIRED: Authorization for limited prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing.
