The Technology Product Manager directs a team of infrastructure engineers involved in the analysis, design, development and implementation of hardware/software. You’re primarily responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time and on budget and are integrated with other systems hardware/software. You’ll also have opportunities to generate hardware/software systems engineering policies, standards and procedures. Leading people – including determining project deployment, career development, performance management and pay determination – are key to this role. You’ll also mentor associates who are not your core team members.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

Directs a staff responsible for driving a competitive unit cost through efficient product. lifecycle, capacity management, expense management and increasing value of the product.

Accountable for their team’s knowledge and deep understanding of business domains, industry trends and how the product(s) compare and compete. 

Links ideation, new product development and introduction to business outcomes.

Leads the team accountable for the first line of defense for product risk and security management.

Directs a staff that is responsible for the alignment to best practices (COP, industry, etc.).

Assigns and allocates roles, in partnership with the Technology Product Executive, based on capacity and demand (finance, vendor relationship, marketing, etc.).

Oversees all activities associates with defining, managing and sustaining operational metrics (SLAs, SLOs).

Directs a staff who is accountable for product management across platforms (on-premise, off-premise and across premises).

Directs a staff who is accountable for product lifecycle at product level including product strategy and roadmap.

Demonstrates user empathy by partnering with User Advocates to understand and incorporate user sentiment.

Understands and manages team skill maturity in context of effective product management.

Oversees vendor management/relationships and sourcing.

Drives release cadence and business feature alignment leveraging automation to drive speed.

Leads people through guidance and support on the execution of work; responsible for the management of associates including but not limited to performance management, salary planning, training, development, workforce planning, hiring, and disciplinary actions; and attracts, hires, engages and develops the team through impactful recruitment, coaching and feedback.

Participation in strategic initiatives across Technology.

Develops and manages project budgets and deployment including the training and development of personnel.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to AVP, Technology Engineering/Manager/Technology Product Manager; responsible for direct management of three or more Technology professionals.

Typical Skills and Experiences: 

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or a related field is strongly preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Technology certifications or designation are not required, but encouraged (i.e.: AWS, Azure, scripting and development languages, delivery methods, security).

Experience: Ten years knowledge of project management concepts and techniques. Experience leading multiple teams and assets across various technology platforms. Three years of management experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Extensive knowledge of budgeting and financial analysis concepts and techniques. Ability to develop, implement and present application development strategies.

Skills/Competencies: Must have the ability to manage a staff. Must have strong analytical and decision-making skills.  Must possess interpersonal savvy and well-developed leadership ability. Must be able to perform financial and risk analysis. Must possess negotiation skills. Must have strong oral and written communication skills to interact with all levels of associates, senior management and vendors.
