The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As Senior Cloud Development Engineer for the Health Services Platform team, you will use your extensive experience automating production workloads and knowledge of AWS to deliver best-in-class solutions to deploy and operate systems at scale. As a Senior Cloud Development Engineer , you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.

You will replace repetitive manual tasks with automation to create repeatable and standard processes aimed at improving cycle times and reducing waste. 

You will write code to provision infrastructure, perform operational tasks, enhance observability, provide high availability and resiliency, and secure environments.
You will contribute to processes such as requirements gathering, testing strategy development, incident response management, and capacity planning.

You will champion security best practices.
You are an enthusiastic team player working with software engineers, architects, clinical and business analysts, automation engineers and other product team members and service teams. 

You will interact with customers to determine system requirements and to resolve operational problems. 
You will mentor other software development engineers and you enjoy documenting your work in various forms and sharing with colleagues.

You must be comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced, team based, production environment with challenging deadlines and changing priorities.
You will actively embrace a “you build it, you own it” mindset.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Be a leading member on a scrum team by participating in all phases of development, delivery and operations, including best practices, design, development, and code reviews.
Develop products and services based on requirements, architecture, and design specifications.
Continually create and adhere to team design, coding procedures, and standards.
Interface with product owners and other stakeholders to define system requirements.
Help resolve escalated technical issues.
Mentor other developers.
Interact with customers to resolve operational problems and determine customer requirements.
Actively participate in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, comply with professional and quality standards complies with corporate policies and procedures, and act in a manner consistent with 3M’s values and ethical standards.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

OR

High School Diploma/GED or higher from an accredited institution and ten (10) years of experience in software development

Five (5) combined years of DevOps and/or software development and/or engineering experience
Three (3) years designing and developing high scale secure solutions in AWS or other major cloud environments

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

Experience building CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, AWS Code Deploy, GitHub
Experience with cloud infrastructure automation software such as AWS CloudFormation, Red Hat Ansible, HashiCorp Terraform
Experience with scripting/programming languages (e.g. PowerShell, Bash, Python)
Advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
Advanced knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud architectural patterns
Associate level or higher certification(s) in public cloud services such as AWS or Microsoft Azure
Experience deploying and maintaining live production environments
Advanced knowledge and experience using source code control systems such as Git, TFS, or SVN
Experience implementing process improvements to create efficiencies in the development process
Knowledge of network security and performance
Work experience with healthcare data and healthcare related security concepts and control frameworks including HIPAA and HITRUST
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to solve problems in a logical, methodical, and time efficient manner
Strong leadership skills
Highly self-directed and able to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent and competing or conflicting challenges and issues
