Job Description

The Senior Associate, Communications & Events, will serve as an integral part of the Communications and Development team at NYGC. This position supports the integrated strategic communications, marketing, branding and digital/social media activities. The position will be responsible for hosting and managing promotion of virtual donor webinars. The position will also serve as chief coordinator for external client events at NYGC and work closely with Facilities to handle all arrangements related to the events. The position will report to the Senior Director, Communications at NYGC.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Multi-Media Content Creation/Proofing/Distribution

Assist the department in creating, proofing and posting/distributing content including: press releases; website news stories and other website content; external newsletters, social media postings; internal promotional digital signage; and other key content development.
Leverage available photography assets for posting/tweeting, as well as taking photos and/or working with outside photographers, as appropriate. Coordination of headshots and other photoshoots, as needed.
Leverage available video assets for posting/tweeting and support coordination of external videographer shoots, as needed.

Events Management

Host/manage Zoom webinars for donors.
Coordinate external client events held in the event space at NYGC.

Media Relations/Social Media Support

Update and maintain media contacts lists and creation of targeted lists, as needed.
Develop media monitoring and special pickup reports, as needed.
Assist in media escorting (i.e., escort film crews’ filming, etc.).
Monitor and maintain all NYGC social media platforms, including Twitter and Facebook.

Department Reporting and Purchasing

Update and maintain a key set of Communications team reports, which include but are not limited to the Master Events Report, Quarterly Media Coverage Report, Media Highlights Report for NYGC Board Meetings, and Media Contacts List.
Complete department Concur expense reports.

Required Skills

Four-year undergraduate degree and a minimum of three to five years of relevant work experience in communications and/or events management required.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to think strategically.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Proven proficiency in MS office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) for Macintosh.
Detail-oriented and self-motivated with the ability to learn quickly.
Ability to collaborate effectively with top researchers and administration and engender trust and confidence.

Preferred Qualifications:

Communications and/or Events Management experience in the healthcare field.
Familiarity/experience with Mailchimp, Wordpress, Hootsuite, and Adobe Creative Cloud (particularly Photoshop).
Knowledge and expertise in hosting/managing virtual donor events.
Strong experience creating content across all social media platforms.
