Defines the vision and roadmap for the product, defining and prioritizing stories in the product backlog, and articulating this to both stakeholders and the development team. Works closely with stakeholders to understand their needs, and with the Product Manager in a scaled Agile model to ensure there is alignment. Possess a working knowledge of the product, and basic understanding of the business or technology domain. With some guidance, creates the vision and roadmap for the product to align with strategic direction for the business or technology domain. Communicates the product vision and roadmap to stakeholders and the team. Collaborates with stakeholders to understand their needs and problems. Creates and prioritizes work for one team. Learning to collaborate with cross-functional teams. With some guidance, creates and prioritizes stories in the product backlog. Refines stories with the team to ensure there are enough ready stories to load the next 1-2 sprints. Reviews and accepts stories and is empowered to make on-the-spot decisions on scope and requirements. Works in partnership with the team to ensure that optimum value is obtained through technology and through an advanced understanding of the business. Individual contributor.

Overview:

A Product Owner is responsible for maximizing the value for a product.  Key responsibilities include defining the vision and roadmap for the product, defining and prioritizing stories in the product backlog, and articulating this to both stakeholders and the development team.  This role works closely with the stakeholders to understand their needs, and with the Product Manager in a scaled Agile model, to ensure there is alignment.  They are developing in the role of a Product Owner, possessing a working knowledge of the product, and basic understanding of the business and/or technology domain.

Responsibilities:

Bank of America is seeking a Product Owner that will lead and design application-based projects for an enterprise wide document exchange solution. Must be able to understand very complex systems and utilize development patterns to develop key components in a clustered and multithreaded environment which is highly scalable with continued good performance. Must be self-driven, communicate well and work well on a team of other developers. Some projects may lead others or may be led depending upon project priorities and functionality. Must work with business to understand requirements and architecture leads to develop a strategic design and roadmap. Creates and prioritizes work for one team. Learning to collaborate with cross-functional teams. With some guidance, creates and prioritizes stories in the product backlog. Refines stories with the team to ensure there are enough ready stories to load the next 1-2 sprints. Reviews and accepts stories and is empowered to make on-the-spot decisions on scope and requirements. Ultimately responsible for delivery of project into production.

Developing an understanding of stakeholder needs to help create a solution, envisions the solution to solve a problem (manual or through software)
Analyzes the stakeholder process to build efficiencies and also analyzes the software to improve or implement that process
Create, prioritize and maintain the team’s backlog for assigned products in collaboration with stakeholders.
Continuously review the business needs, refine priorities, outline milestones and deliverables, and identify opportunities and risks.
Work with the team, Scrum Master, and other Product Owners to coordinate external team dependencies
Gathers and catalogs functional, non-functional, and technical requirements.

Required Skills:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in Agile methodology and a deep understanding of various phases of the Software Development Life Cycle; preferably in Business Analyst / Product Owner role
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both technology/development and business partners – ability to translate between these two constituencies
Excellent written communication skills and have excellent communication skills and client presence
Ability to create user journeys, user stories, wireframes, mockups, and basic diagrams to convey ideas
Experience using tools like Rally and JIRA for Agile projects
Understanding of business process redesign concepts and process improvement techniques
Understanding and experience with technical solutions and components (APIs, Middleware, Services, SQL)
Exceptional organizational skills, analytical skills, strong written and verbal presentation skills
Must be a team player and be able to build positive working relationships with team members and project managers that encourage open communication and a supportive team environment
Prior experience in an IT or management consulting environment with a focus on business analysis within financial services

Desired Skills:

Knowledge of either internal facing and/or client facing applications; strong presentation skills; client focused and able to build working relationships; experience in handling infrastructure builds; experience with JIRA tool and infrastructure
Certification in Agile Scrum; specifically Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) and/or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and/or Certified Product Owner
