Responsibilities
The Network Engineer is responsible for the oversight and integration of the enterprise-wide network including the planning, design, installation, maintenance, management, and coordination of the Garnet Health LAN/WAN. Assists the Network Team with developing and maintaining the technical architecture and recommendations related to the Garnet Health LAN/WAN. Maintains high level of technical expertise and studies vendor products to determine those which best meet company needs. Coordinates the installation of hardware, software, and networking equipment.
Assists the Network Team with the implementation and network integration of the two-tier and three-tier client/server infrastructure to include a multi-server (500+) WAN/LAN environment. Provide 2nd level support for Cisco core, distribution, and access layer devices that support the client/server infrastructure. Manage and maintain the Cisco Web Filter Appliance, ISE appliance, and all other Cisco support appliances. Manage and maintain the Cisco SmartNet contract for the entire healthcare system. Assists other Engineers with network related design questions. Working knowledge of Windows Client Server Roles such as AD Sites and Services, DHCP, WINS, DNS and Microsoft AD strategy for Garnet Health. Support Garnet Health cabling infrastructure.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information technology or 3-5 years of Network engineer experience
Minimum Experience:
3-5 years of Network engineer experience
Requirements:
Key Certifications or training from Industry leaders in network technologies, such as F5, Cisco, and Arista.
Desired certifications include: CCNA Enterprise
Demonstrated experience in building, configuring and troubleshooting of Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches and routers (NX-OS and IOS) across multiple geographically dispersed locations. Familiar with Cisco proprietary technology such as OTV, VDC, VSS, and VPC.
Experience with design, management, and troubleshooting of multicast routing protocols such and PIM-DM, PIM-SM, and IGMP.
Extensive practical knowledge of all layers of the OSI network model.
Experience building out resilient WAN environments via MPLS and P2P. Knowledge/experience of SD-WAN technologies a plus.
Understanding of load balancer technologies specifically F5 LTM/DNS and Citrix Netscalers
Must have extensive experience in LAN/WAN, 802.11x, WiFi design, implementation, VPN implementation and maintenance using PPTP, L2TP and IPSEC.
Must have knowledge managing/migrating/modernizing routing protocols OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP. Knowledge of redundancy protocols such as GSLB and HSRP required.
Understanding of Cisco Wired and Wireless 802.1x authentication with Cisco ISE a plus
Selection of, building out and utilizing monitoring and performance tools to troubleshoot, track and predict capacity issues.
Proficient in troubleshooting and working with network cabling, patch panels, Ethernet and Telephony jacks fiber optics
Collaborate with the Cisco account team to stay abreast of new technologies relevant to the role. Engage Cisco TAC as required to escalate cases and determine RCA.
General knowledge of firewalls, VPN, and security technologies.
Working knowledge of Cisco UCS - primarily Fabric Interconnects.
Strong understanding of VMware ESXI, Vcenter, and VMware distributed switch is a plus.
Preferred Certification or equivalent and willing to complete within the year of hire

Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works primarily inside and may occasionally work outdoors. Frequent contact with various Medical Center staff, sales representatives, employees and community members. May be exposed to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous or moving equipment, wet slippery floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity.
Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate point of sales system, computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and push over 75 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out and below.
Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
