The Role: Commercial Banks Product Specialist
Grade (relevant for internal applicants only): G12
The Location: New York, Virginia, California, Chicago, Boston, and Toronto
The Team: Within the S&P Global Market Intelligence Commercial organization, Product Specialists are expected to identify, analyze, and propose solutions relating to specific products and services. Within our product suite which includes ESG, Portfolio Analytics, Risk Services, Quantamental Solutions, MMD, LCD, Industry Solutions; Product Specialists are domain and knowledge experts.   
We focus on providing clients an in depth and consultative approach to Commercial Bank and Credit Union workflows to drive the adoption and usage of S&P Global's product and service solutions.  
The Impact: Your role drives revenue growth through client adoption, retention and growth working with Commercial Teams, Product Management, Client Operations, Insight, and Marketing teams to promote S&P Global's products, services, data content and data delivery business, and other services across all Commercial Bank client workflows.  
Your role will help identify client and prospect needs and construct Commercial Bank solutions.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $82.6k - $188.6k. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

Responsibilities:

Possess a firm understanding of the diagnostic sales process and employ its principles and techniques when engaging with a prospect or client 

Possess a strong understanding of the Commercial Bank and FIG workflows 

Conduct advanced S&P Global product and workflow demonstrations and trainings that are specific to client workflows, help to design the best solution to fit a prospect or client needs, including Capital IQ, Capital IQ Pro, FIG, Commercial Prospecting (Commercial Real Estate, Commercial Lending), SNL Banker, and Vertical IQ, as well as support the migration of RateWatch clients to other S&P Global product and services 

Learn and understand new product enhancements, relevant datasets, workflow solutions as they are deployed through our platforms, and communicate the advantages of these products and datasets effectively to clients and prospects 

Drive significant increases in usage and adoption of S&P Global's products and services including: Capital IQ Pro desktop, Excel add-in, content, research, and feed solutions with a strong focus on renewal rates 

Explain complex Commercial Bank workflows, conduct trainings and demonstrations, troubleshoot problems, answer product/research report questions, and work on proof-of-concept projects to ensure that clients and prospects have the tools that will make their S&P Global experience a success 

Assist the trial process with a thorough understanding of the client’s workflow, and how S&P Global solutions may enhance that workflow 

Develop a complete understanding of competitors’ products and articulate S&P Global's competitive differentiation, relative capabilities, and value 

Consolidate regional market feedback for product development/enhancement 

Contribute to S&P Global Go-To-Market efforts and marketing campaigns  

Partner with key stakeholders including, Commercial Teams, Product Management, Client Operations, Insight, Marketing teams, and collaborate across borders with other Product Specialists.  Collaborate with these teams on thought leadership, discovering new workflows, and market entry strategies 

Represent S&P Global externally to clients, conferences, and at industry events and associations 

What We’re Looking For:   
  
Basic Qualifications:  

Bachelor’s Degree or related experience  

Strong understanding of at least one of the segments we serve and the specialized solutions for Commercial Banks 

Firm understanding of workflow solutions within S&P Global's products and services and/or other financial data vendor 

A mixture of finance, business, commercial and technical skills are necessary 

3+ years of experience in Commercial Bank data and research industry, 7-10 years total experience   

A mixture of finance, business, commercial, and technical skills are necessary 

Independent, self-starter capable of working without close supervision or daily guidance 

An understanding of the importance of careful attention to documenting activities 

Preferred Qualifications:  

A high level of client service, exceptional verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills  

Constructive team player, capable of balancing and prioritizing multiple projects across different teams, business segments, geographic boundaries  

Proven experience and ability to apply the core concepts of our diagnostic sales methodology  

Demonstrates drive, initiative, energy and sense of urgency  

Passion for data driven analytic solutions  

Thorough understanding of the equity, fixed income/credit or industry specific investment process (with a focus on either quantitative or qualitative security analysis).  Prior experience in selling to or interacting with the types of firms and individual personas we target is highly desirable.
