JOB SUMMARY
The Apprentice role will learn to perform the job of a Material Handling Maintenance Technician to install, alter, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronic, mechanical, computer, control systems and components in a complex fulfillment/distribution center. Completion of a comprehensive classroom, laboratory, and on-the-job learning program is required. The apprentice will also train in and adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow work processes closely to ensure a safe environment while job shadowing. Observe and incorporate safety standards and regulations required for safe operation systems.
Combine electronic, mechanical, computer and control skills to allow for identification of equipment malfunctions. Perform maintenance/repairs and return equipment to service. Install, repair, adjust, and test equipment and components to ensure that systems function properly.
Work with complex high-performance manufacturing systems and analyze, troubleshoot, and repair systems in order to maintain process efficiency.
Perform scheduled, predictive, and preventive maintenance to detect and prevent problems.
Troubleshoot to identify and prevent possible problems and failures and make repairs.
Work closely with other technicians and coordinate efforts when installing or maintaining equipment or components. Communicate with machine operators and operate equipment to detect equipment problems, analyze malfunctions, and verify system problems.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High School or GED Diploma Required.
0-2 Years of experience in an electrical, mechanical, or controls field.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Must meet the minimum qualifying score on a Mechanical Aptitude Test.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.
FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE
Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills.
OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
Strong communication skills and work well in a Team environment.
Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, and climbing stairs / ladders. Must be at least 18 years of age, able to work any Shift, and open/willing to relocate after completion of the 15-month program.
