Core Responsibilities
Depending on level, will conduct routine studies, in accordance with applicable Criteria, Rules and Standards, of the bulk electric transmission system that may include short circuit, thermal, voltage and stability analysis.
Plan the overall development of the Con Edison bulk electric transmission system on both a long-range and a short-range basis.
Implement requirements of the NYS Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) into Con Edison's Master Transmission Plan. Study and recommend system upgrades needed for Offshore Wind (OSW), Energy Storage Systems, Solar, etc.
Recommend transmission system modifications/upgrades; evaluate reliability benefits of alternative solutions, provide technical expertise and guidance; coordinate Company resources to provide support to developers of new generation and transmission resources.
Work with external parties, such as the NYISO and/or New York Transmission Owners, toward the design of the New York State transmission system.
Coordinate, review and perform interconnection studies for generation and transmission projects including offshore wind, energy storage, solar and other new clean energy technologies.
May be required to act as a Manager during the absence of Section Manager.
Represent the department on internal and external committees, teams and task forces and at regulatory proceedings.
Performs other related tasks and assignments as required.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electric Power Engineering And 2 years of full time work experience to include 1 year of applicable work experience in the application and theory of electrical engineering principles in the area of planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system - ASSOCIATE ENGINEER A (1H) Or
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electric Power Engineering And 3 years applicable work experience in the application and theory of electrical engineering principles in the area of planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system - ENGINEER (2L) Or
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electric Power Engineering And 8 years applicable work experience in the application and theory of electrical engineering principles in the area of planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system - SR ENGINEER (2H) Or
Master's Degree with a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Electric Power Engineering And 6 years applicable work experience in the application and theory of electrical engineering principles in the area of planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system - SR ENGINEER (2H)
Required Work Experience
Relevant experience must include application and theory of electrical engineering principles in the area of planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system. Required
Must have computer literacy and the ability to direct the usage of electronic computer-based analytical simulations as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint). Required
