Job Overview:
Macy’s is currently seeking an External Communications Coordinator, with 1 – 2 years of communications experience who will work with a seasoned team to support the implementation of press plans, media tracking and reporting, budget, and other functions across the external national, regional and financial communications teams.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and organized, conscientious and detail-oriented – a self-starter who takes initiative in executing big ideas and solving problems. Excellent writing and analytics skills will help this person succeed and deliver high performance results.
Essential Functions:
Drafting /editing of press materials and pitches media as assigned.
Management and collection of images, b-roll, and other media assets
Managing content for online pressroom
Regular updating of media lists/contacts
Coordination/support for meetings, calls, etc.
Creation of media recaps and reports including measurement/reporting of results
Administration and finance needs (creating purchase orders, processing invoices, etc.)
Facilitating and supporting the regional media relations teams
Proactively collaborating with the broader Corporate Communications team, as well as cross functional teams, including merchandising, legal, HR, marketing, branded entertainment, government affairs, risk management, and social media
Dependable attendance and punctuality expected. Position will involve some late nights, early mornings, weekend and holiday work.
Qualifications and Competencies:
BA/BS in communications-related field, with 1-2 years of experience in public relations, media relations, communications or related area
Fluent in Spanish is a plus
Innovative, creative, proactive and confident thinker
Strong interpersonal skills and highly collaborative
Effective command of language and writing
Background in retail or other consumer business; general knowledge of the department store business a plus
Advanced use of Microsoft Office suite, media monitoring programs and social media channels
Must be able to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
