Analytic Software Engineer II

Job Description

Fair Isaac Corporation is seeking a full-time Analytic Software – Engineer II at our offices in San Diego, CA. The primary duty of the Analytic Software – Engineer II role is to write software, explore big data sources and unique big data technologies, build datasets and support the overall analytic software development lifecycle (SDLC). This role is an integral part of the analytics product software team driving analytic software innovation and will work closely with data scientists and researchers.

Specific duties include:

1. Design and develop artificial intelligence (AI) and analytics software using Java, Scala or Python programming languages and software platforms.

2. Build software components and tools to support system development and to enable integration and deployment of such systems into production software and solutions. Both on-premise deployment and cloud deployment platforms will be supported using modern development operations technologies such as AWS (S3, EC2), OpenStack, Docker and Kubernetes.

3. Prepare, cleanse and analyze real-world data sets using Spark, Hadoop Big Data technology and Couchbase NoSQL databases for the purpose of building predictive models and analytics innovation. Investigate novel Big Data technologies and new data sources.

4. Apply Machine learning tools and algorithms to large real-world data sets. Research and select appropriate statistical methods, computational algorithms. Apply data cleaning techniques to large volumes of data in different formats collected from disparate sources.

5. Develop infrastructure for AI and analytics software development, automated testing, and release management using best software development practices including agile development, unit testing, continuous integration and performance/memory profiling using Git, Maven or Gradle, Jenkins, Junit and Mockito.

6. Continuously evaluate, improve, and support our existing code base in Git using Jenkins, Junit and Mockito within the overall SDLC.

7. Participate in project management, setting goals and managing deadlines in partnership with other teams within FICO (software, IT, product management, and product support) to provide high quality support using Agile Scrum and JIRA.

8. Educate colleagues and prospective customers via documentation or software written in a computational notebook interface.

9. Participate in pre-sales support and provide post-implementation support.

10. The expected growth path of this position may include the following future duties: supervising or coordinating the activities of software engineers, data scientists, modelers or analytics scientists. Domestic and international travel required 10% of the time.

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Operations Research with specialization in Machine Learning, or related field, and three (3) years of related experience. Experience must include three (3) years of experience, which may be concurrent, with all of the following: 1) Programming experience with both Java and Scala software technologies. 2) Experience with the following Big Data and NoSQL technologies: Spark; Hadoop; Couchbase. 3) Experience with machine learning techniques including regression, classification or clustering. 4) Experience using statistical software and data manipulation tools to cleanse, develop data statistical analysis, data statistics and evaluate data quality and build predictive models for clients. 5) Experience with good software engineering practices and the agile software development lifecycle using following technologies: Git; Jira; Maven or Gradle; Jenkins; Junit or Mockito. Domestic and international travel required 10% of the time. All experience may have been gained concurrently. Experience must have been acquired after completion of the Bachelor’s Degree program.
