The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

Designing, developing, implementing, and testing micro-services for an enterprise healthcare application
Working with the claims development team to design and develop a claims processing pipeline from the ingestion of EDI 837 and related claim files to the transformation into Claim FHIR resources
Coordinating and communicating with clinical specialists, NLP researchers, and product analysts
Working with fellow software engineers and other team members to design and build required systems

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university OR High School Diploma/GED or higher from an accredited institution and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in software engineering in lieu of the bachelor’s degree education requirement
Six (6) years of experience as a Software Engineer
Five (5) years of development experience with a JVM language
Experience in designing and developing RESTful web services
Experience in designing and implementing relational data models

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

Eight (8) years or more of experience as a Software Engineer
Deep understanding of SOLID principles
Familiarity with Spring Boot or the Spring framework
Familiarity with C#
Familiarity with healthcare data – e.g. HL7, FHIR, and/or EDI X12 835/837
Experience with scripting languages such as Shell
Experience with PostgreSQL
Experience working with AWS cloud-based environments
Working proficiency with containers and frameworks like Docker
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Functional programming experience
