POSITION SUMMARY
The IT Controls Engineer will serve as second tier support for refinery, lab systems and what we are calling Engineering Applications. This position will implement solutions to complex applications that are blending the instrumentation (Distributed Control Systems [DCS]) and controls of a refinery into the IT Network. Interfaces with multiple groups including Refinery Automation Teams, Vendors, Lab, and internal IT teams to implement solutions. Assures that DCS and IT software change control procedures are followed (Methods of Change [MOC] and Request for Change [RFC]). The role will be a technical expert for supporting of refinery systems, lab systems, loading facilities, and pipeline SCADA systems. In addition, this position will coordinate as the technical lead with internal teams in developing implementation schedules and communicating updates to Program Management.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics and Communications Engineering or other related scientific of technical discipline required.
Work experience and technical certification required demonstrating technical proficiency may be substituted for education requirements.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
5+ years' experience supervising people or working in a senior role to provide technical guidance, training, and support in implementing or troubleshooting of IT/DCS systems
Serves as the technical lead for all projects and trains the Business and IT as needed
Displays creative problem-solving skills and patience to evaluate and troubleshoot process control and lab systems.
Results oriented style demonstrating active involvement with appropriate attention to detail, follow-up and use of key performance measures in driving continuous process improvement.
Displays ability as a self-starter and communicates solid problem-solving skills with a structured logical thought process
Adapts as necessary to communicate the needs of the business and understands how to deliver change management information.

Fluent in English, oral and written required

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
Manages workload to ensure problems/tickets are handled in a timely manner along with projects being completed on time.
Act as the subject matter expert and a technical lead for all projects; developing timelines for the project teams for implementation, configuration and troubleshooting to ensure successful project completion.
Leads, supports, and provides value added technical inputs on new designs of refinery systems, lab systems, loading facilities, and pipeline SCADA systems
Responsible for understanding infrastructure requirements necessary for project construction packages and communicates needs to appropriate team members.
Documents and ensures design specifications, installation instructions, and other system-related information are completed for each project
Implements testing and generates test procedures for each project
Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging engineering practices; participates in educational opportunities and professional organizations; reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks
Regularly communicates with Supervisor work progress, concerns, and questions.

Develops implementation schedules with refinery and IT personnel to ensures all communication is clear and concise.
Completed at least one continuous education course during the year
