The Head of Global Trade Finance Americas (GTF Americas) will develop and direct the strategy for GTF Americas for BBVA, and will be a strategic advisor to senior leadership and focus on driving initiatives to better lead and manage the Trade Finance business. The incumbent will lead a team providing Trade Finance and Working Capital solutions in conjunction with sales, development and execution of the business strategy utilizing existing Trade Finance & Working Capital products, engineering/implementing new structures, driving asset and revenues growth, while maintaining an optimal risk/return profile and implementing new technologies ensuring the delivery of Trade Finance solutions that satisfy customers’ needs.
Responsibilities
Summary of Responsibilities:
The key areas of focus will include, but are not limited, to the following: Running the GTF Americas business which includes business strategy and planning, business management reporting, senior management presentations, balance sheet management, global coordination, client analysis, pipeline management, business and banker performance measurement and analysis, competitor benchmarking and trend analysis, and internal and external communications
Product development: design, develop and implement specific trade finance solutions for each of the countries/regions under his/her responsibility Monitor the entire Trade Finance and structuring and execution process:
- Encourage the coordination and strategic alignment with Bankers and other product and supporting units
- Develop commercial initiatives to increase penetration of Trade Finance products and solutions with clients and prospects
- Participate in strategic pipeline committees of Global Trade and International Banking units
- Ensure that the entire GTF Americas team understands and complies with the Trade Finance operational policies and procedures in their day-to-day activities Marketing, origination, structuring and execution of Trade Finance transactions, which include but are not limited to:
- Letters of Credit (issuance, confirmation, advising of Letters of Credit, Stand-By LCs, Documentary Collections, etc.)
- Receivables/Payables Finance:
Supply Chain Finance / Confirming, Receivable Purchase Programs / Factoring / Vendor Factoring, Forfaiting / Structured Forfaiting (discount without recourse of instruments of payment such as LCs, receivables, bills of exchange, promissory notes, etc.)
- Sustainable Trade Finance and Working Capital solutions within the Global Transaction Banking ESG Framework (GTB Sustainability Framework) Management Responsibilities: Manage a team across the Americas, with ability to manage cross-border and cross-functional GTF teams in the US, Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Argentina. Lead complex assignments and coverage responsibilities and provide guidance to the team
Education/Experience
An ideal candidate has 10+ years of Trade Finance or equivalent business experience, with proven leadership, management and influencing skills Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or related field. MBA preferred Fluent in English and Spanish (both oral and written) Strong knowledge and understanding of the bank’s Global Trade Finance and Working Capital products and business, and the GTB Sustainability Framework
