Job Description

Responsibilities: 

Strategy and Architecture

Work closely with divisional business units and functional areas to understand their business vision, capability needs, and key initiatives
Provide thought leadership and creative solution options to solve complex business problems 
Conduct current state technology assessments and business capability analysis to enable business goals for key initiatives
Define target and interim architecture vision and roadmap to support key initiatives
Define target solutions, involving technology, data, and infrastructure to support business needs
Identify opportunities to leverage/re-use and scale existing technology platforms across the enterprise
Lead efforts to evaluate new technologies and platforms to enable business needs based on business/technology fit and value
Participate in Architecture Review Board to present and influence target architectures and solutions to senior leadership
Integrates business, application, information (data) and technology (infrastructure) architecture stovepipes to form holistic, business capability-based strategies and solutions
Develops clear documentation of issues, options and impacts to support effective decisions making

Execution

Analyzes the cost and benefits of Information Technology initiatives that are aligned to business strategies
Ensures that proposed and existing technology architectures are aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Promotes adherence to standardized IT processes, strategic principles, and architectural standards
Work with delivery teams and solution architects to ensure high quality solution delivery and alignment between the solution architecture and end state technology strategy and architecture vision for the enterprise
Ensures business and IT are in alignment by linking business mission / strategy to IT strategy
Delivers and/or consults on assigned Project/Initiative documents within areas of expertise
Remains continuously aware of business, technical, and infrastructure issues and acts as a consultant to aid in the development of creative solutions
Evaluates design and architecture of proposed systems to determine feasibility of new platforms and/or assess business impacts on other systems and application rationalization strategy
Provide architecture & technical design, consultation, and solution recommendation for enterprise portfolio initiatives across policy admin, claims, billing, underwriting, document management, data, infrastructure, etc

Best practices 

Contributes to advancing enterprise architecture practice maturity
Assist with the development and ongoing maturation of reference architecture, best practices, standards, etc. for technology platforms and key domains including policy administration, CRM, document management, claims, billing, API’s, automation, data, digital, cloud etc.
Conduct research and analysis on the technology landscape in the marketplace including staying on top of competitive insights and evolving trends and technologies that can have an impact on Great American businesses
Anticipates IT industry future directions and relates them to future GAI technology needs and projects. Provides technical leadership to GAI including being conversant with the future direction of systems, how that direction will impact the enterprise, and how future and current systems can be exploited for the benefit of the enterprise
Coordinates across the enterprise to establish common approaches, technologies and processes
Defines and plans enterprise architectures for enterprise systems
Contributes to business and/or technology Architecture Roadmaps
Develops and enhances foundational architecture artifacts

Qualifications: 

8-10 years of related experience. 5+ years related to architecture 
Expertise within the property and casualty insurance industry and concepts
Experience with designing and implementing insurance ecosystem and innovative technology within an organization is a plus
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, ML, Electrical Engineering or related fields such as Statistics, Applied Math, Data Science, Economics, or Business Administration – or equivalent experience
Advanced knowledge of insurance domain, business processes and platforms such as Policy Administration, Claims and Billing.
Advanced knowledge in Azure Networking, Security, Platform Management and Application Development.
Applied knowledge of API, Automation and CI/CD Pipeline Management.
Intellectual curiosity to keep pace with technological advancements and tools in core insurance and emerging technologies
Accountable and able to stick to hard deadlines
Intellectually curious and is entrepreneurial-minded, always seeking ways to improve work product and their own performance
Able to collaborate and work closely together with colleagues to identify opportunities and to develop solutions
Comfortable communicating ideas and insights to senior management
Able to prioritize and easily switch between projects
Has strong analytical skills to quickly find solutions or asses the company’s core insurance capabilities needs
Results driven and eager to see output of the work being used and making a difference
