Job Description

SUMMARY

Hansen Mechanical Contractors/Dynalectric Nevada is seeking a Payroll Specialist responsible for assisting accounting with the quick and efficient processing of payroll.  The ideal candidate must have at least 2 - 3 years professional payroll experience, strong analytical thinking skills, and attention to detail. Candidates with Payroll experience working for construction or union contractors are encouraged to apply.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Process and issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions;
Compute wages and deductions, and enter data into computers;
Review time sheets, work charts, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies;
Compile employee time, production, and payroll data from time sheets and other records;
Review, correct and enter time sheets into database and payroll software for multiple unions and nonunion employees on a weekly basis; payroll is in-house so this also includes printing and distribution of checks;
Review and enter new hire paperwork data into software and file into employee personnel files;
Process certified payrolls accurately on a monthly basis;
Familiarity with different union fringes and benefits for processing purposes;
Review all I-9’s, enter into E-Verify, print and pass records onto Human Resources for review then file accordingly;
Generate and distribute necessary reports internally and externally;
Gather documentation for company audits on a timely basis;
Process and mail checks for vouchers;
Assist Human Resources with employee verifications and scanning of employee personnel files pursuant to requests as needed;
Maintain utmost confidentiality of company information;
Comply with I.S.O. 9000:2015 operations work instructions and Company established policies and procedures;
Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the CFO with recommendation for resolution;
Perform additional assignments as required by the company or as directed by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Position Requirements

At least 2 - 3 years professional experience working in a payroll capacity, preferably with construction or union contractors;
High Diploma or GED. Bachelor's Degree in Finance or similar Degree from an accredited College or University preferred;
Working knowledge of the construction industry, operations management, and safety practices a plus;
Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel);
Working knowledge of payroll, project and financial software;
Working knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines;
Business writing and reporting skills;
Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills;
Time management skills – ability to meet frequent deadlines;
Strategic, analytical, and multi-tasking skills;
Attention to detail
