As a Claims Consultant, you will take initiative to identify and solve problems with a continuous improvement mindset, lead and handle claims projects, examine the most highly complex claims, and be a guide to other claims examiners, the Claims Leadership Team, the legal team, and auditors. In addition to these requirements, you will drive engagement of the team through team building exercises and daily interactions. You will help to represent Thrivent in Claims litigation cases, as well as serve as the lead business representative on all audit inquiries.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Lead new projects and non-supervisory level analyst work, often addressing consistency, accuracy, quality, continuous improvement, and/or standardization of processes both within the claims area and cross functional departments.
Train and mentor claims examiners as well as consult with Operations Managers.
Provide thought leadership to all levels of claims examiners as well as providing consultation to BSA's and Operations Managers.  Make claims decisions that have long lasting impact by setting precedent that will have an effect on future matters.
Build and maintain NAIC compliant claims processes across all lines of business. Monitor the claims environment for process gaps or industry changes that may affect compliance, to include the unclaimed property process.
Represent Claims Operations in the Member Dispute Resolution Program (MDRP) process.
Provide oversight for compliance/audit reviews and fulfill audit requirements by collaborating with Compliance Analysts. Represent the business unit in face to face meetings with internal and external auditors, as well as provides leadership to other team members involved with the process.

Required Job Qualifications

High school required. Continuous education or College degree desired.
Minimum 7 years related experience.
Experienced in claim administration and operations as well as in pertinent laws and regulations.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, or GBA and/or agile experience or certifications preferred
Training and mentoring staff experience is a plus! Engaging with a team of 20+ associates requires emotional intelligence, leadership skills, and mentoring capabilities.
Professional credentials preferred (e.g. LOMA, ICA)
