Job DescriptionPosition Summary
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is a senior representative for ABM Aviation, on a full-time basis at Long Beach Airport (LGB). Under the direction of the General Manager this position may be responsible for the administration and operation of the public parking facilities in accordance with Contract provisions between the Long Beach Airport and ABM Aviation, the Contractor. The AGM will be the senior representative for ABM in absence of the GM and upon approval of the division executive.
Essential Duties
* Plan, organize, direct and evaluate the required practices, programs, and activities of the ABM Aviation administrative, supervisory, cashier, attendant and other personnel engaged in operating the facilities.
* Abide by and ensure adherence to established policies, rules and regulations, and procedures of ABM Aviation and LGB as applicable to the facilities.
* Maintain close and proper liaison with LGB on day-to-day operational problems and assure cooperation of ABM Aviation staff with authorized representatives of LGB.
* Maintain close liaison with the LGB Administrator, handling problems of mutual concern such as minimizing traffic congestion leading into and out of the various facilities, and other items relative to security and to the property of both the LGB and patrons utilizing the facilities.
* Originate and enforce standards regarding parking employees personal appearance and demeanor to assure a professional, first-class operation.
* Be responsible for adherence to approved hiring practices and final selection and dismissal of parking personnel at the facility.
* Be responsible for achieving an acceptable level of public relations by all employees of ABM at the facilities.
* Initiate and direct the orientation and training of all employees to assure maximum efficiency and safety at all levels of the operation.
* Review all records and reports and take necessary action directly or through staff to improve the proficiency and accuracy of parking employees.
* Responsible for the preparation and evaluation of the monthly billing and providing the required management reports as directed by the LGB and its Finance Department.
* Maintain a petty cash account, which is to be used for purchases to ensure a smooth, uninterrupted parking operation as well as authorize and approve the purchase of supplies, services and materials associated with the administration and operation of the facilities.
* Assure the timely submission of required operational and administrative reports to designated LGB management and the Regional Manager regarding pertinent parking operations activities and revenues generated. Oversee all administrative activities carried on by subordinate personnel.
* Assure cooperation and communication with LGB Staff regarding equipment malfunctions, conditions and maintenance requirements on a timely basis. Establish and maintain an on-going daily maintenance log, indicating location, date, and time of notification.
* Assure that all Workers Compensation Claims are processed in a timely manner.
* Responsible for the submission of a yearly operational budget, requesting funds for all phases of the parking facilities operation directly controlled by the Contractor. Provide a budget analysis and substantiate each items increase or decrease from the prior year.
* Conduct unannounced personal inspections at various times, to observe and evaluate performance of subordinate personnel in fulfilling patron service standards.
* Conduct unannounced personal audits at various times, to observe and evaluate office record-keeping and accounting and cash control performance.
* Conduct facility inspections on a frequent basis, advising the LGB of any required needs to preserve the safety and appearance of the facilities.
* Be responsible for compliance with all U.S. Government, State of California and City of Long Beach requirements, codes and statutes regarding employment and equal employment opportunities.
* Be responsible for analyzing operational activities and make recommendations to the LGB.
* Take all ABM required training to facilitate career development.
Minimum Requirements:High School Diploma/GEDor equivalent experience.
Five years or more management experience at an airport parking/shuttle facility preferred.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently.
Computer literate.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
