The Advanced Battery Pack Lead is responsible for the integration of designs for a high voltage, lithium-ion propulsion battery and its subsystems (structural components, cell modules, battery electrical hardware, including wiring and bussing, and battery thermal system components). This role will work on the latest battery technology to equip General Motors' burgeoning electrified vehicle portfolio with cutting edge battery technology that will lead the industry, working with a high-performance, creative, and innovative team. This will focus on the compatibility of CAE designs for packaging and functionality of battery sub-components to meet stringent vehicle and battery level requirements. This role will directly affect the cost, quality, durability and performance of future GM electrified vehicles, as a direct contributor to GM's Zero Emissions vision!

Requirements:

Collaborate with the Advanced Battery Engineers, Project Manager and Battery Architect to integrate battery components' design.

Package battery electrical, structural, module, and thermal components.

Lead designers to ensure interface and packaging compatibility both internal to a battery pack, as well as externally.

Work with other Component and Lead Engineers to select and craft appropriate components, while reusing parts where appropriate.

Work with manufacturing to ensure build-ability and to resolve quality requirements.

Work with service to ensure designs serviceability.

Ensure component designs support safety and thermal requirements for the Vehicle, Propulsion System and Battery Pack.

Execute and support peer reviews per program achievements.

Additional Job Description

Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.

3+ years of experience in batteries, electrification or vehicle engineering.

Experience with Unigraphics NX.

Ability to read, interpret and generate engineering drawings and specifications.

Familiarity with CAD and CAE.

Ability to work with multiple designers and provide CAE direction.

Desired Skills:

Master’s degree in Engineering.

5+ years of Battery Pack and/or Battery Component engineering experience.

High voltage or electrified vehicle safety training and hands-on work experience.

Prior experience with a major automotive OEM and/or Tier 1 supplier.
