You’ll be responsible for strategic communications planning and content development that drives business priorities and can be distributed through various internal and external communications channels across functions and regions. We’ll be looking to you to develop internal content and communications strategies to support the company’s vision, strategic plan, and other strategic initiatives while managing end-to-end execution, including evaluation and measurement. Develop a strategy for creative storytelling to share Western Union’s story both inside and outside Western Union across internal, external, and social media channels. Establish and manage strategic, enterprise-level, and cross-functional communications plans. Build an editorial board and process to coordinate and deliver key content through a quarterly communications calendar – aligning with an external master calendar of activity, in addition to internal engagements. You will work collaboratively with the Global Social Team to identify opportunities for employees to share content via LinkedIn.
Evolve standard work and processes to support communication effectiveness and efficiency across regions and functions (Embed WU Way lean techniques to drive efficiencies and assess and measure on an ongoing basis the effectiveness of the internal communication programs). Manage and deliver key communication deliverables (e.g., global newsletter, videos, podcasts, broadcast communications. Coordinate, support, and execute large and small events for employees and senior leaders (e.g., all-hands meetings, panel discussions, podcasts, etc.). Develop and regularly report on key performance indicators to demonstrate the impact of communications strategy. Keep up to date with internal communications tools and trends to heighten employee engagement. Partner across functions and regions to drive consistent and aligned messaging across the enterprise. Previous experience of lean and agile working methodologies is also desirable.
For this pivotal role, you will ideally have a proven ability to work effectively with individuals in multiple departments and countries. Have shown exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Should be flexible and able to evaluate situations quickly and act decisively. You will have exhibited ability to work with senior executives. A history of working in a fast-paced environment. Experience with Microsoft Teams (desired but not required). Willingness to travel within the United States and, occasionally, internationally. Degree preferred or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience in journalism, corporate communications, media relations, marketing, or a related field.
