Position Summary

The Senior Analyst Flight Operations position is responsible to aid in the administration and continuous improvement of the Flight Operations Department programs and will work in close coordination with other project related departments with an emphasis on Safety Management System (SMS) related work.  The Senior Analyst is responsible to aid in the development and implementation of proactive and reactive practices and procedures in our flight operations.  This person actively participates in all aspects of SMS projects associated with the Flight Operations Department from start to finish, including project team definition, project planning, documentation and coordination when assigned by the Manager, Flight Operations Safety and SMS/Pilot ASAP, in support of Flight Operations SMS Compliance and the smooth operation of Pilot ASAP.  Directly reports to the Manager, Flight Operations Safety and SMS/Pilot ASAP and has a functional (‘dotted line’) to the Safety Department Leadership (Director Level) for all SMS related projects.

Essential Responsibilities

Serves as a resource for all programs, projects and duties as assigned by the Manager, Flight Operations Administration Safety and SMS/Pilot ASAP in support of Flight Operations Part 5 Compliance and Compliance of the Pilot ASAP MOU and associated AC120-66C
Ensures the Flight Operations Department Leadership and other Department Leadership are apprised of all significant issues and trends
Assists in the administration of the Pilot Aviation Safety Action Program at the direction of the Manager, Flight Operations Safety & SMS
Prepares presentations and assists with investigations and solutions on deficiencies as needed for programs outside of the SMS program
Performs evaluations of audit responses and investigations findings and provides recommendations as required for the Flight Operations Department SMS program
Aids in the continuous development implementation and enhancement of JetBlue’s Flight Operations Department programs including those that are associated with Safety Department’s SMS goals
Provides support and coordination in the oversight of regulatory compliance including JetBlue’s Flight Operations Department SMS program
Prepares or assists in preparing presentations for leadership to include the Flight Risk Working Group and the Safety Review Board
Aids in the investigation, research, and follow-up on safety related events and issues root cause analysis and corrective action plan development and activation through coordination with Leadership
Supports JetBlue’s confidential safety reporting program as a member of the Flight Operations Safety Action Report Review Team
Assures corrective measures are implemented and unresolved issues are tracked to final resolution for all safety and regulatory business needs through the Flight Risk Working Group structure
Supports the company accident, incident, hazard, and injury reduction efforts by aiding in the development of proactive and educational safety programs
Coordinate and prepare for IOSA and DOD audits as well as others that may arise
Ensure adherence to all Safety and Security regulations
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Safety, Aeronautical Science, Aviation Management, or another related field
Three (3) years’ experience with a Part 121 carrier
Experience conducting Safety Risk Assessments
Familiarity with federal regulations pertaining to U.S. scheduled, domestic air carrier operations
Understanding of SMS components and applications
Understanding of AC120-66C and ASAP processes and procedures
Training and aviation experience in quality assurance auditing or internal evaluation required
Able to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet team deadlines
Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Proven ability to build relationships both internally and externally
Proficient in quantitative and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with little supervision
Ability to craft and deliver key messages through presentations and reporting to senior leadership
Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
Experience with Microsoft Office suite
Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualification

Applicable licenses and or technical certificates, common to Flight Operations activities
Experience in Aviation Quality Database (AQD) or similar database programs.
Knowledge of technology fundamentals and concepts (Microsoft technologies preferred)

Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
