Job Description Summary
Join a global engineering team utilizing advanced design tools and techniques to develop state-of-the-art CT systems for leadership medical diagnostic imaging systems. The Engineer is responsible for driving elements of the multi-generational product plan as well as product specific development plans.
Essential Responsibilities
The successful candidate in this role will support existing CT systems products and new product development programs with component design, equipment design, engineering analysis, and planning/conducting rigorous reliability and verification tests. There will be an emphasis on hands on engineering, packaging and component testing. This role requires the interaction with other service, manufacturing, and design engineering teams.
Main responsibilities for this role will be Mechanical Engineering IB support, which will include but not limited to SCRs, Manufacturing support and CSO responses. We are looking for a well-rounded Mechanical Engineer that can execute on a variety of tasks (some fun, some mundane) as part of this super-awesome, fun-tastic team.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
* Design/package mechanical structures, electro-mechanical devices and so on Premium CT Hardware.
* Drives and is accountable for operational excellence of assigned designs, projects and rigor, with duties including design, project reviews, feasibility analysis, cost benefit analysis, prioritization, resourcing, initiation, execution and closure
* Drive the development of prototypes, performance testing and design documentation
* Able to operate in various mechanical systems, MCAD, FEA and so on
* Develop innovative designs to meet all requirements for performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability
* Identify, select, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade test equipment
* Evaluate engineering test plan requests, and determine the best method/approach to achieve results
* Create, review, and execute development and reliability planning, testing, and analysis activities, and when needed coordinate resources and equipment needed to run engineering tests
* Proactively resolve and escalate issues across functions regarding issues found during engineering development and tests.
* Effectively communicates project status, issues, risks, and plans to senior management
Required Qualifications
* BS in Mechanical/Product Engineering or 7 years of industry mechanical engineering experience.
* Knowledge of standard drafting practices, product structuring, mechanical modeling and drawing practices, and engineering analysis techniques
Desired Characteristics
* Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Good understanding of structural design, thermal analysis and electro-mechanical design
* Working knowledge of GE systems- MyWorkshop, CREO, Ansys, Matlab
* High level understanding of electrical engineering and their design constraints
* Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute projects/programs.
* Ability to multi-task, both on projects within the electrical team and within the greater hardware team.
* Someone that wants to grow in the role from Lead engineer to helping guide team design strategy (Senior Engineer).
* Global project experience
* Ability to work hand on when creating and/or testing prototype parts
* Demonstrated system and subsystem level mechanical system design experience
