The International Banking group consists of experienced professionals who understand global marketplace complexities and are committed to helping customers prosper in the international arena. It is a team focused on the international trade needs of the bank’s clients. We are currently accepting applications for an International Collections Specialist. This position will be located in the Amegy Tower located in Houston’s Uptown/Galleria area.

Ideal candidates will have the skills and experience necessary to:

Responsible to processes all foreign checks received from affiliate divisions, handles incoming and out going oil and gas drafts and auto drafts .
Ensures items are sent and collected through Scotia Bank.
Responsible to handle foreign items which may be processed through the following methods; via cash letter, for final payment, for final payment if no specific instruction is attached with the check, or no response is received from the branch within 24 hours after instructions have been requested by the International Collections department.
Acts as the paying agent for petroleum customers, once authorization has been received to pay a draft disburses funds to the appropriate recipient.
Acts as the collecting agent for retail customers on outgoing drafts.
Sends outgoing drafts to the designated financial institution requesting payment for the customer.
Monitors collections inbox as required. Approves and input wires.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Requires High School diploma or equivalent
1+ years' experience in foreign check and draft collections and payments, wire transfers, lockbox processes and procedures preferred
A combination of education and experience may meet job requirement.
Basic knowledge of foreign check and draft collections and payments, wire transfers, lockbox processes and procedures.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
Solid verbal communication skills, effective telephone techniques.
Ability and skills to effectively deal with clients.
Solid follow-up, research and problem resolutions skills.
Good attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, prioritize and organize work.
Basic knowledge of regulatory requirements.
Solid math, reading, writing and reasoning skills.
Working knowledge of various computer programs (i.e. excel, word, etc).
