Primary Purpose

The Infrastructure Engineer needs to excel in a fast-paced and challenging work environment. This position will be responsible for day to day administration and configuration of the Infrastructure environment for Simon Property Group, both on-premise and in the cloud. They install, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve the Company’s operating infrastructure. They will utilize expert level experience and knowledge of IT infrastructure configuration, administration and best practices combined with strong, current and deep experience with Azure,  Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and Active Directory to assist with the design, development and deployment of Simon Property Group's infrastructure solutions.

This role will have a heavy focus on Microsoft 365 solutions. They will be responsible for administrating, maintaining, and deploying various new services, M365-based business solutions as well as establishing standards, processes, and configuration guidelines. The role must have strong technological and analytical skills with the ability to understand comparative technologies to properly assess feasibility of migrating solutions to or from on-premise and cloud platforms. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting problems as reported by users and maintaining a secure systems environment

Challenges and Responsibilities

Participate in overall architectural strategy/roadmaps and provide technical and operational subject matter expertise for the Microsoft 365 Services (SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive) and Exchange Online.

Administer and support Microsoft 365 Tenant configurations and policies.

Responsible for implementing, maintaining and supporting Email Messaging components of Exchange Online, Secure Email Gateway and associated infrastructure, including all related applications, servers and services

Provide leadership to the team in supporting the development and execution of Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online services strategy, including Governance, Licensing, and Policy.

Participate in overall architectural strategy/roadmaps and provide technical and operational subject matter expertise for tenant/system security utilizing Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) policies for Microsoft 365 and Conditional Access.

Support technical and project teams to translate requirements into solution designs and influence stakeholders to drive consensus on approach and work towards achieving desired outcomes

Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to Development Teams to build/deploy cloud applications infrastructure.

Participate in overall project planning, tracking, issues resolution, vendor coordination, and execution for infrastructure

Develop, maintain, and document automation scripts utilizing PowerShell

Use PowerBI and other reporting tools to create reports and live dashboards for SLT, Business stakeholders and other teams that need insight into tenant activity and usage

Assist infrastructure teammates in support of Simon’s on-premise data center infrastructure.

Interface with vendors for any necessary support escalations

Provide third tier help desk support for the infrastructure

Assist in the collection and preservation of asset tracking, inventory and licensing

Participate in the evolution and continuous improvement of the Change Control/Change Management process

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics

Expert knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Online and core elements

Thorough knowledge of Active Directory, and associated technologies (GPO, Kerberos, DNS, LDAP)

Thorough knowledge of Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Graph

Expert knowledge of the Microsoft 365 Tenant environment including applications, features, configuration, integration and problem resolution

Ability to analyze business processes and requirements from technical and non-technical teams and convert business requirements into system functionality within the Microsoft 365 framework

Thorough knowledge and skill in the use of PowerShell to report on, manage and automate Microsoft 365 services

Working knowledge of VMWare, Linux, and Citrix (XenServer, XenApp, ShareFile, NetScaler)

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work with minimal supervision, meet deadlines and see tasks through to completion

Ability to use critical thinking and logic skills to analyze data, interpret results, and resolve issues.

Experience

Hands on experience managing an AD environment utilizing GPO’s and scripting.

4+ years of experience managing Exchange Online and Office 365

Experience using scripting languages (i.e. PowerShell, Visual Basic)

Hands on experience with implementation, deployment, migration, and support of core M365 services, including (but not limited to): Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Office ProPlus, InTune

Hands on experience in design construction for all facets of a Microsoft 365 Tenant

Experience utilizing PowerShell to manage and automate Microsoft 365 services

4+ years of experience in enterprise-level SharePoint design and implementation with a focus on the design, development and delivery of SharePoint solutions – involved in all stages of the project lifecycle.

Experience in the implementation of SharePoint collaboration tools (forums/issue lists, document/form libraries, etc.)

Hands on experience configuring, VMWare, Windows, and Linux Servers

Requires 4 year degree or equivalent knowledge and 7 years IT experience
